I have a resale license in my state. I've come upon an opportunity to buy excess inventory in new condition from a large clothing store at about 15-20% retail price. The catch is I have to buy per pallet and the boxes contain random items, mostly 1-2 of each item. My plan was to resell these clothes on ebay by the lots and individually for a quick profit selling at about 50% retail price. This is in no way a fastlane business but another way to make some extra money. I'm reluctant to purchase the inventory for a couple of reasons.
1) The fact that the items are random, it will be time consuming. I'm working on my fastlane ventures while holding down a 9-5 so I don't want this to take too much of my time..
2) The clothing market on ebay is saturated and most clothes don't sell. Only about 25% sells from my research. There are many seller selling stuff for less than half retail.
3) The items are mid level designer stuff like ralph lauren , kenneth cole etc. Not the top luxury brands people look for deals for on ebay..
I'm afraid I will be stuck with 20 boxes of clothes in my apartment that can't sell.
I'd like to hear your advice. thanks in advance..
