I have a friend and she's a good girl with much potential. All through her life, she's been taught how to be normal. You know, go to school, get a job, bills, debt, get married, blah blah blah. She fully believes this is how you are supposed to live. I asked her a simple
My friend, more often than not, is always complaining about money, bills and jobs. She hates how she doesn't make enough money, sick of paying bills and tired of working and getting treated like shit by the boss. I give her my advice and tell her how to break away from that lifestyle. I tell her that the reason she is going to college will only perpetuate that life for the rest of her life. I thought I was stimulating her mind with information that she'd never heard before as I was already living my given advice long before I met her. I thought actually living it was all the proof needed. I thought I was helping.
Little did I know, my advice was not welcomed. I really thought I was being helpful but unfortunately, I was not. She jumped down my throat and become irate with what I was saying. To her knowledge, she was keeping it real and setting me straight by telling me how people have bills and are dealing with life and can't just start a business. I told her that with a few hundred dollars she could start her own business. A few hundred dollars isn't much right? Apparently so because she responded by saying she doesn't have money to give away or waste it. I told her that those are excuses, that she shouldn't think that way and to change her way of thinking. I got blasted.
I told my friend that most people let bills other things control them. They know what they really want to do but the bills and everything else are just too damn important.
I used to have bills and everything else. I was sick of jobs just like she was but years before I met her, I quit that lifestyle. I started my own business with a few hundred dollars and now I make more money than many people with doctorates. How shameful of me to do so after dropping out after my freshman year. Did I let bills stop me? No. I didn't see those few hundred dollars as losing it or wasting it. I saw it as a valuable investment with myself. Currently, I am starting my second business with only a few hundred dollars.
I asked my friend if she ever wanted to be rich and she said yes. I was only giving her the knowledge on how she could get rich. I was only trying to help my friend to expand her mind and think differently from the norm. How bad of me. Now my friend doesn't want anything to do with me. There are other things involved but our last conversation, leading to dismay, was about success and money.
Sometimes you just can't explain things to people what they think is foreign. Sometimes its just better to continue showing that actions speak louder than words even if your actions are seen as not the real life. Sometime walking the walk means nothing. Sometime its just better to just live your reality and let others live their reality, although they desperately want a better reality.
Sometimes its just like speaking Japanese to a Mexican or French to a horse. If they can't understand it, whats the point?
