We are in the process of raising capital for our venture after a successful proof of concept.
Should we look for someone to help us raise money, aka fundraising consultant / DB broker, or should we try to do it ourselves?
How do you pay such fundraising consultant when there is no money in the company at the moment? a % of the investment? equity? both?
Thanks

Hey! I wouldn't get one. If you're the CEO, your job will be to communicate your solution to a problem to your investors.
Imagine you're an investor and somebody comes along who pitches a startup whose CEO is somewhere at home. You would want the founders be in front of you, correct?

To investors, it's almost never about the idea. The people building the product/service must "vibe" with the investors bro.

You can check out "Feel the boot" on youtube. He has pretty good advice on fundraising etc (early videos).
Take a pause, rebuild your mindset about startup ventures, and then crush it...would be my advice.

Good luck!!! : )

A good way to start is evaluating the different options to see whether you should raise outside money in the first place.

Very, very, very few business are suitable for outside investment. Maybe 1 out of 1,000. Alternative include: pre-sales, bootstrap, credit cards, line of credit, friends and family loans, factoring, vendor financing, bank loans, home equity line, crowdfunding, industry partnerships. All of those are much cheaper and faster than raising investment capital.

Hey Cruiser, we work with <$1M startups to their first major fundraising, on a pay-per-result basis; you only pay us if we book you a call with a qualified investment firm or private investor, and you can pay us after you finish ongoing conversations with the lead, which can take up months.

If your idea is validated, would love to help you land your first big fundraiser. Drop me your email or socials and I'll send some more details.
