How to create a viral message

Hello all,

I am sitting here looking at my google analytics and seeing the low traffic I am getting... And I am thinking to myself, how can I generate ginormous amounts of traffic to my website. I am a filmmaker, so I have qualifications and skills on filming and editing. So, I am thinking somehow I need to create a video that can go viral. But I have zero creativity.

How would you recommend storyboarding an idea or coming up with something to get your wheels turning. How does one go about creating a viral video?

I think that is the million dollar question.

It seems viral videos seem to just happen and there is quite a bit of luck, but I am VERY interested in the suggestions as well.

Things go viral because they speak to the emotions of people. The most prominent one is humor, but something can go viral by triggering amazement, anger, anxiety, fear, joy, lust and surprise. Just pick one and go from there.

my definition of weird; so unrelated to pop culture mainstream that it's appropriate.

Think of it like this, there was no dance/pop music, but Lady Gaga rise to fame fast. Now... all there is dance/pop, and Lana Del Rey shoot to fame like a turpedo, since she's right for the time. Lana Del Rey would not make it 5 yrs ago, nor 5 yrs from now. She's today. Fresh.
