Hello,
Several years ago, I had a mentor who was extremely extremely wealthy who actually took the time to email me advice. This mentor was uniquie in that:
A. She had an intuitive sense in terms of what particular endeavors I was truly cut out for and best suited my abilities.
B. She really was so much wiser then me in so many areas.
C. When I wanted to be mentored on a specific entrepreneurial endeavor, she in a subtle way suggested that it would not be "my best fit" and that she would be glad to mentor me on another endeavor she suggested.
But what did I do:
A. I wasted time DEBATING AND ARGUING WITH this mentor.
B. I did not follow through on the advice.
C. I insisted that I wanted to do the original endeavor.
She eventually stopped returning my emails.
I now realize how great this mentor was and that if I went with the endeavor the mentor suggested to me, I would be worth at least 2 million.
I guess the lessons are:
1. If by some fluke a mentor who is very high profile or very wealthy actually mentors you, DO NOT TAKE THEM for granted
2. With such a high calliber mentor, do not waste their time in DEBATE. It is most likely that they are right and that you are wrong.
3. If such a high calliber mentor offers you advice, DO DO DO DO DO DO.
This mentor was mine more then half a decade ago, It is only recently that I happened to by a fluke find her old emails and realize what a BIG BIG mistake I made.
I repeat, if a high calliber mentor bothers to speak to you, DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT waste their time in debate.
Thanks
I feel so sad that I made such a big mistake
