Hello Friends, i hope we can make this subject work in this particular category.
My aim of this conversation is to figure out how much commission to charge, or maybe I am going about this the wrong way, you tell me.
I am partnering up with someone that is able to provide a service/business that i have been trying to promote. Basically its all up and running already. The idea is to branch his business off and have me focus on some particular popular niche markets (is this an oxymoron?). The upside i see is that by partnering i do not have to worry about a) equipment investment, b) performing the job myself c) legal matters and insurance. my role in all of this is to help drive sales. So, handling the promotion, the cold calling, the massaging of clients - getting sales.
the upside here is that i should be able to drive growth to the business, something that the current owner has not been able to wrap his hands around too well. In addition i would also be free to tackle this after hours, away from my 9-5 job. I already have contacts in the field so i am optimistic.
Lastly, the sales we are targeting should/will yield repeat business.
My target was about 50% commission, the margin on the service is pretty healthy so i think this would be possible, however, maybe one day this guy would cut me lose and rather collect all the money himself?
Thanks for listening, looking forward to your suggestions.
