Hello everyone,

It is said that trust is the highest form of motivation. Customers won't really click the affiliate link until they trust the website. I make sure that I put in as much as possible quality in my articles and I am honest about whatever I write(3 up, working on the 4th. Average word count is 2500).

But apart from that, how do I make my customers trust me? Will anything else apart from learning copywriting help? Going through Lex's threads for that.

What do you do to create trust?

Collabs with other trustworthy websites (backlinks). Depending on your market/niche, you could start writing up Medium.com articles, become known as helpful and competent on Quora or sites like StackOverflow.

The goal here is to create a solid branding (read: reputation). If people believe in your brand, they will believe in your skillset.

Thanks. When you mean collab, do you mean simply linking, or talking to them and letting them know that you're linking it etc.?

You don't MAKE customers trust you. Customers choose to trust you because you provide insights and content that they're interested in. That they NEED.

I might trust your site but that doesn't mean I would trust your affiliate link unless it was to something like Amazon for a related product etc..

i.e. fitness site linking to scales from a recognised company. Tool review site linking to a item sold on Amazon etc..

I probably wouldn't trust any site that talks about digital currency and incorporates affiliate links. But that is just me.

Years ago I had good success with a page that walked people through erasing a nasty virus that was doing the rounds. It was quite a complex walk through but I gave them the option of downloading an anti virus package from McAfee (if I remember correctly) that would do it automatically for them. There was no cost involved as they got a 30 day free trial.

A lot of people went for the 30 day trial and then made a purchase once it had run it's course so they were protected in the future (why wouldn't you?)

I had no social proof, no background in virus detection and eradication and the rest of the site was my website promotion services. However the info was useful so people trusted it and most people knew of McAfee so they were happy to follow the affiliate link.

That page took me a couple of hours to create and I was still cashing cheques almost a year later.

Content marketing will take time to gain traction IMO. It's not writing a few articles and then people start seeing you as the expert or goto guy.

What Jeff Noel said is right. Besides writing on your site/own blog, post on Medium, Quora and add a link back to your own site at the bottom of those articles. Also, ask famous blogs in your niche if they can have you as a guest blogger.

Yes, obviously. I don't mean to imply tricks.

Thank you... that is very valuable advice.

I mean (just an example) writing an article for them while you mention them in an article. If they're in the same niche, their community might be interested by your content and products. Those people are already warm leads and if the interest is there and your content is nicely done, they'll stick with your website.

Ok, so just to clarify - you mean guest writing a post on their website and linking their other pages in my posts, right?

Sorry if its a dumb question, I'm still new to this.

Yes that's what I mean. It's a win-win for both of you.
