For 30+ years .... a "to do list" ... shameless plug... GoalSumo.com (for the last 2 years) ... for every year before that, my daily paper planner.

I've heard it best described as the ABZ system.

A = Where you are.
B = What you need to do next to advance.
Z = Where you want to go.

That's all it is.

Make it rocket science, and you'll get lost in the weeds.

Getting the work done everyday.

I think that there are many important factors that come in play to achieving things, but without the discipline to do the work? You won't achieve anything.

Use todolists each day, but make them flexible.

Random to-do lists and execution plans scattered on the floor and glued to the walls... but I am working on becoming more organized.

However, those are merely tools. And tools are as effective as the hand wielding them.

The single most important driver of execution is the discipline of mind - i.e. how hard can you focus, and how long can you maintain your focus on a given task.

P.S. On the topic - for me total eradication of every distracting activity and person in my life really helped. No friends, no GF, no TV, no gaming, no parties, no travels except for occasional hike. Pure work focus, my business is my pet, baby and wife in one entity. That helps
