Hey everyone, I've been thinking long and hard about this thing that I've been designing and I want to get a provisional patent done up fairly quickly, just for a bit of piece of mind...
Now, I have made one prototype and I'll be making another one soon. I'll have a "works like" prototype and a "looks like" prototype to show to companies when I try to license it, I was just wondering how developed I have to make it to patent it provisionally?
The industry I am aiming toward is huge, there are things out there like it, but this makes it easier, the customer doesn't have to do anything, at the moment it can't work without their actual input. The prototype I made works perfectly, the second one will just be more practical.
I'm pretty financially screwed at the moment, but I am willing to put the money into a provisional patent to get it done.
Once I have this patent, is it safe to speak to companies? I want feedback from them, I've already conducted polls on forums to gauge interest (interest that I knew was there, but I wanted to be thorough and not F up).
I am hoping that a provisional patent will make it safe for me to get the extra feedback I want, so I can change my idea if necessary. It's early days yet and I have a lot to do, but it's the quick and the dead, I want to get something happening.
If it doesn't work, I simply don't care. I am eager to take the experience on!
