I can't talk to anyone in my family or friends about this so here I am.

I made a previous post about how I tried many different online things to get started making money.

My short story is typical. Kid from the ghetto who lived with his mom in hotels, tried college. Wasn't for me. Especially at 23. Realized I'd rather spend my life trying to work for myself than someone else. Especially 4 years. Especially having to live on my own. I needed money ASAP not on even 2 years, hell 3 months. Started flipping products online, ecommerce, but didn't get far. Found MJs book. Now I'm 26 and homeless.

But I do have a job. Always have. And to be frank I think it's the only way nowadays you can save a ton of money to try and start your own business if you really are on your own. Otherwise you spend like half your check atleast running the rat race. I'd rather sacrifice my quality of life to stack a deck needed to beat the game than run that race.

Thing is... I'm lost. And losing willpower by the year. It gets harder to refuse just going to school when you're sleeping outside. But I eat better then when I had to pay rent, can actually afford to invest in ideas and feel kind of... Free financially. Just tired of getting barely anywhere with this online stuff.

I hire models via IG for porn and fetish clips I sold and I made like... Barely rent money. Then I realized it violates the commandment of control. Dropshipping was meh, affiliate marketing... Dynamic.

I've tried so many things I'm thinking of doing a youtube channel where I share and experiment my process of ways to make money online. I made money. Just never stuck with it long enough to make a big change. Just 3k a month would be life changing. Even 2 tbh.

And yes I want to provide value but I have low willpower when I wanna get off the streets and still don't have a business making atleast 2k a month to live on.

I live in San Diego and even living in Mexico and working here allows me to be atleast housed but I don't even wanna have to spend 600 a month while trying to get this off the ground.

Sorry if this was long winded but I just don't know who else to turn to. My pride won't let me tell family and my mother ranted at me the other night all the way back East about how I should give up and take the safe route. "All the college kids have passed you by this point, you're gonna be 27."

It echoes in my mind because she's right? Had I stayed in school of be done this year and atleast housed with a decent salary... But at what cost? I don't want debt, location dependency and a corporate boss either. I'd actually rather be homeless, no cap.

I've come too far (2 years on the streets) to give up now. And I'm just sick of watching videos after videos on new ways to make money online. What to learn to freelance, side hsitles online and on and on and on. And it's so frustrating because I know I possible. I made money online to pay tuition before. I literally watched people on youtube like the Black Hustlers Club start his channel and on 2 years he's making six figures online at NINETEEN. He looks like me and we have a similar background yet I can't even house myself off my knowledge.

People like cupcake trainings made 300k on her channel on 1 year. Teens making 5k on shoplfy, and the onlyfans girls just showing their feet and living in Thailand. Meanwhile look at me.

I feel like a failure and to be honest I question the point to all this anyways. Why keep playing this game between ordeals. The country is a shit show politically, nuclear family gone, everyone is selfish, marriage and dating is at a cataclysm and it's just... The only thing keeping me going is knowing once I break through I'll be beyond happy. And my sis and mom. Otherwise I'd opt out.

I find ways to stay positive even amidst this and HAVE gotten results. But it's getting harder and I feel now in my late 20s I'm getting "old" and time is running out.

I'm willing to learn anything. And I know the direction I wanna go... I'm just overwhelmed and don't know which direction to go. Affiliate marketing, web dev, flipping... Just too much...

But I refuse to give up and will continue. I only spent 500 upfront for my fetish modeling thing and the results sucked... But I know after a couple of thousands saved I can do way more. So I'm working to save for that and I'm gonna try youtube. Even if I gotta throw some money at people for interviews. 2 good years of consistent quality content in the make money online niche is a guarantee good return on investment.
Also I can always go back to flipping pcs and hardware. Which I will. Just gotta stop feeling bad for myself and do the work. Mainly made this to announce you gotta take the small victories in life. And even failures are success.

What would you guys do if you woke up tommorow, lost everything and were homeless and on the streets suddenly?

Why are you so opposed to going to school? Seems silly since you are willing to literally try anything apart from that. School gives you a different way of thinking and opportunity to network. Sure the fastlane frees you from working for others, but no one gets anywhere without anyone. Literally everything we use or have has come from building on others ideas. Why not get a job or two and work hard? Take the time to learn the business inside out. This way you're making consistent money which you can later use to build a business from if you wish or even start a business based on the business you worked with (but making it better in your own way). The key is to have enough cash to fall back on.

To me, it seems like you're just chasing quick money. Fastlane takes time. Comparing yourself to others is only going to drive you deeper into a sense of failure (look at you vs Jeff Bezo or Gates, you're financially nothing in comparison, most of us arn't!). So stop comparing yourself and look at people that you can aspire to be like. Look at people like Obama, politics aside, the guy went from a tiny island to president. Look at the legendary members on this board, they took what they could and built a lot from it.

At the end of the day though, your life is worth a lot. Whether you "succeed" or "fail" in life, it doesn't matter as long as you enjoy the journey and keep trying. Never give up. All the best.

I refuse to believe that you have read both 'The Millionaire Fastlane ' & 'Unscripted ' if you just wrote a post like this.

Reread your entire post and realize how strange it sounds.

The first step you need is to get a job and take care of your basic needs.

Bruh, fetish porn clips? Why? Is that creating value for the world? Learn to create real value of you wanna get paid, and I've gotta agree with everyone that said to get a job. Check out a video MJ posted a few months ago about starting with an unskilled job, then a skilled job, etc. You have to work your way up.

Creating value is a skill and skills take time to learn. Chasing money is pathetic.

Best of luck, you can make it, though maybe you're gonna get mad at some of the feedback in this thread, but the truth hurts.

And don't have a scarcity mindset. Who gives a F*ck about $600 a month for rent? Rent is worth it. I don't care how much I pay for rent, it means I have a safe place to rest and focus, and then I pay rent for an office on top of that. It pays for itself.

Basic needs first.

a JOB or school is not a bad thing. It can provide. It'll give you a place to sleep, food in the stomach, and from there, you can work on leaving the sidewalk.

@Prince33

First, thanks for the honesty here. It's not easy to be straight up with strangers, especially online.
It's way easier to make yourself seem like something you are not. Kudos for the honesty.

Second, I'm sure this is already your mindset, but, screw what anyone else says. You'll get comments here and everywhere about what you 'should do' or 'shouldn't do'. Personally, I've ignored that most of my life. It's just not worth worrying what people say to do. You have to figure it out for yourself.

Main point: I don't like to give advice, so I won't, but I'll tell you this: 'Comparison is the root of all evil'

The moment I learned to stop comparing myself to others, my brain (and soul, honestly) were made free.

- On this forum, there are people who make 100000x the dollars I make. That's ok.
- People have rockstar youtube channels at age 19. Cool, good for them.
- People are popular (my worst nightmare, but I see the appeal). Roger that.

I am me.
I don't want to be them. I don't want those things.

Andy Frisella talks about this a lot (I'd recommend his podcast 'The Real AF').
The only person you should compare yourself to is YOU, yesterday.

Are you getting better? Learning new skills? Are you finding your passion?
Are you figuring out how you can help people?
Are you doing the things that make you a better version of yourself, every day?

--
I don't care about anyone else. People like MJ inspire me, so does an Elon or whomever.
But, I'm not them. Hell, I don't even know how I could be them? And I don't want to be them.

I want to be a better version of ME.

When on focus on myself, and moving up - one single, painful step at a time.
Over a month, I make a little bit of progress.
Over a year, I've moved some more.
Over a decade (yes, a decade), I've made a few steps...
Maybe over a lifetime, I achieve what I dream of.

But, I'll never get anywhere if I compare myself to anyone else, other than me.

You come from hard times? Cool. Use it for motivation.
You don't have a roof over your head? Good. There is no more basic desire than for safety and shelter. Get it.
You are starting at the bottom? Perfect. You can only rise.

There are kids who die in Africa from basic illnesses every day.
There are slums in South America where people live in burned out cars their whole lives.
There is real suffering. We all experience it.
But there is no point comparing...

Maybe we'll be reading your book in 10 years, and it will inspire a new generation.
Why not you? Why not?
Think how awesome your story is going to be once you rise.

There's one sentence that sticks out from your previous thread (So many possible vehicles to drive down the Fastlane, I'm overwhelmed.):
So to put it bluntly, I've got analysis paralysis, but I do atleast start the ideas. I just never keep it up
You've tried all these things:
I made a previous post about how I tried many different online things to get started making money.
You look at other's stories and see fast successes:
But I know I need to focus on one thing... ugh. But my problem currently is I want to replace my 9-5 soon, so it's harder to focus on one thing when I know it'll take maybe a year or more to get off the ground, then I start to wonder what else can I do that'll hasten the process. Then I try something else and the loop repeats. Maybe my issue simply is patience. I don't want to accept the fact I may have to work a normal job for 2-4 more years while trying to juggle all this.
It seems that no matter what you do, that success eludes you:
And it's so frustrating because I know I possible. I made money online to pay tuition before. I literally watched people on youtube like the Black Hustlers Club start his channel and on 2 years he's making six figures online at NINETEEN. He looks like me and we have a similar background yet I can't even house myself off my knowledge.
In fact, you have a long list of things you've tried:
I've brainstormed and tried:
Dropshipping
Kindle Publishing
Podcasting(still do this but it's on 'hold')
Digital Art
3D Modeling
Blogging
5 Youtube channels(going as far back as 2007 at 13 years old)
Freelancing(Portfolio building scared me, admittedly so barely this)
Amazon FBA
Language learning.
And you value getting money as fast as possible:
And lastly: Producing Adult video in the Adult industry.
Which is my current niche & I have the most faith in. As it's what I recently made money in, in my first 10 days! Faster than dropshipping which is my 2nd and only other thing I made money from.
The common thread is that you have a lot of ideas, but you can't seem to stick to one. As you said yourself:
I just find it so hard to commit and I get intimidated once I start to drive down the lane of success. My friend told me bluntly: "If you just stuck with ONE thing all this time you'd be good by now", and that echoes in my head daily. But I then start to ponder the long term. Will I really be able to do this effectively years down the line?
Is that working?
I find ways to stay positive even amidst this and HAVE gotten results.
I only spent 500 upfront for my fetish modeling thing and the results sucked...

So here's my question now: the path you've gone down for the last two years didn't work. During this time, you tried many things, without committing too much to one idea. The results aren't there, since you're making this post.

What can you do differently?

If we take a look at what you've tried, it sounds like money chasing: that is, you're looking for the quickest way to make money now. The ideas are sexy get-rich-now businesses.

Take a look at this thread: GOLD! - 100 Unsexy Business Ideas: Name as many as you can!
Look up one of these ideas on Youtube: eg. "starting a dropshipping business" v.s. "starting a fish farming business" for instance. You'll find gurus in the former and not much on the latter.

"Getting rich quick" doesn't exist. You need money "now", but a business isn't a "get money now" kind of deal - it's a "hard work and commitment to one single thing for years" kind of deal. And that's not something you can afford in your current situation.

What can I do differently?

In your situation, what could get me money now is a job. However, you have a job, but you're on the street:
But I do have a job. Always have.
It gets harder to refuse just going to school when you're sleeping outside.
So I would ask myself, what can I do to get a better job? It's education and knowledge - that means going to school. I would go to school and learn while keeping my unskilled job.

What's the best way to "make money now"? It's to provide value. If you struggle with choosing, don't think too deeply about it: pick one and stick to it.

If you stick to something and provide value, you'll start getting paid because you're giving to the world instead of chasing money. You can get paid, enough to be able to live somewhere. With the foundation taken care of, I suspect the urge to "make money now" will go away, because you won't need to, leaving you free to pursue a business.

What would you guys do if you woke up tommorow, lost everything and were homeless and on the streets suddenly?

In your situation I would get a job. Save up as much money as possible per month and reinvest it into my business.

Sounds like you are doing your business since 5+ years and you still can't make a living of it. Maybe the whole entrepreneur things isn't for you because a) it sounds like you spend more time to listen what other people are selling you as the new hot sh*t on the block you need to know and b) after 5 years you still don't have any plan where to go and what to do.

Now you are homeless. Shouldn't it be a wake up call to yourself to change something? Instead you are planning to create a YouTube channel to earn some money? Do you know how long it takes to make a living from YouTube? 5+ years of constant uploading.

Wake up, get a job and come back when you can afford at least the minimum standard of living.

I was homeless for 2 years. The only way out is to pick one lane and stick to it, while continuing in your day job to fuel the hustle.

With regards to comparing yourself to others and the feeling that you're "old" or time is running out....watch a few GaryVee videos to get your perspective in check.

Everyone has given some solid advice. Where you go from here is a choice that only you can make.

Good luck.

Bruh, fetish porn clips? Why? Is that creating value for the world?
I made like... Barely rent money
Apparently.

Bro, figure out what's working for you and go all-in on it. If shooting porn is actually putting money in your pocket, continue. Keep records to comply with 18 U.S.C. 2257 and put those videos on as many clip sites as you can as a studio. Don't read another book (not even TMF or Unscripted , they'll probably mess up your mind even more), don't watch another YouTube channel, don't follow any more gurus.

Brute force your way to success.

What did you spend that $500 on and how much did it make you? Do you have to spend $500 for every video, or was some of that on equipment? How can you lower your costs without compromising quality? Are you utilizing every avenue you can?

Creative endeavors typically compound, from books to video to music. I think of dudes like Russ, even if his music is trash or he's an industry plug. The dude put out a song a week for months, one would get super popular, and his whole catalog would get plays from people being put on to his music.

You're just on chapter 2, dude.

You seem to have a very negative way of looking at your life, please consider starting a therapy, it's very hard to stick to something when you constantly self-sabottage yourself internally.

.

Also, you are CHASING money, which is a recipe for failure. The only thing you see is the next three months.

YOU NEED TO GO LONG.

Stop resetting your progresses every month by chasing the next "smart" way to make "good cash".

.

At this point, you have already most of the skills you need to make life-changing money by freelancing.

But your mind is so f*cked up juggling between your ambitions and social expectations...
...So you are spinning your wheel in the worst rat-race possible.

The way you feel about yourself is a good predictor of success.
Cool thing you can work on that , isn't it?

TLDR:
Somebody told me once that SKILLS are like the ZEROS ON A CHEQUE.
And that SELF-CONFIDENCE is the ONE in front of all the zeros.

Currently, you are a cheque of 000,000.00$ and you are missing the 1.

So, pull the brake and take care of your mind for 6 months...

Thank me back in a year when you will be at full speed, kicking a$$ and taking names.

I'm over 40 years old. I went to school and got a job, like parents and society and told me to. I'm ready to ditch it for bigger and better. But honestly, the education and job, while not ideal, has served me well, and I won't be in as good a position to start a business than if I hadn't.

Remember that MJ had jobs too, even though they sucked, while creating his business.

Like mentioned in Millionaire Fastlane , elements of Slowlane aren't bad if used within a Fastlane strategy, as long as those Slowlane elements don't make up your ENTIRE strategy. Consider the job as a stepping stone, rather than an obstacle.

Also, you can find jobs that match whatever you are interested starting a business in. Consider those jobs as paid internships. Use it to learn as much as you can, build relationships, and build your business on the side, while getting paid and still have a roof over your bed. Then, once you finally have at least a semi-solid business, you can ditch the job and go at it 100%, again, while still having a roof over your head.

I refuse to believe that you have read both 'The Millionaire Fastlane ' & 'Unscripted ' if you just wrote a post like this.

Reread your entire post and realize how strange it sounds.

The first step you need is to get a job and take care of your basic needs.
My basic needs are taken care of, in fact if I wanted to rent a apartment in San Diego, eat decent and go out on the weekends I could do that with what I currently make. I don't value that, though. If all I wanted was a job and a decent living I wouldn't have made this post and just stayed in school 2 years ago. Not saying I want the high life either. But autonomy. That's it.

Again, I respect your oiook but I'm not chasing money. I would've stuck to my stem major had I wanted money. I want autonomy.

Also I'd debate porn isn't value. Won't bog you down with statistics but everyoje watches porn almost. IG is a sex and kinkhub now. Women have the erotica industry booming right, mostly lonely and unmarried post 30 ones (which is predicted to rise more since our generation isn't getting married) etc etc. I know minimalists that spend money on eroticism. We are human after all and frankly evolved to breed. Sex is the most primal "need" there is outside food. Men have conquered nations strictly for it. I'd consider it more a need than needing a website built or even manufacturing products. Onlyfans is booming for a reason. Though that industry has always been there. Just now more present.
Basic needs first.

a JOB or school is not a bad thing. It can provide. It'll give you a place to sleep, food in the stomach, and from there, you can work on leaving the sidewalk.
I can have all those things now. Just don't want to spend most my money on it. And frankly when I went back to having a place it almost felt like wasted money. I know it sounds crazy but I just value financial freedom and future success more than a air conditioned room.

My basic needs can be met this month. Hell, now. I want more than that.
@Prince33

Yeah man. That's the thing. I remember my friend who worked at Microsoft told me exactly that. "Had you stuck with just one thing this year you'd be doing great now." but I still was tempted to do other things. One and a half years later I'm here. Albeit plenty experience knowing what I like and don't like though.

I appreciate your perspective and words of willpower though. But I know I'm on this mess because of my choices, and can easily get out, just gotta think differently as I am seeing from these responses.
There's one sentence that sticks out from your previous thread (So many possible vehicles to drive down the Fastlane, I'm overwhelmed.):

You've tried all these things:

You look at other's stories and see fast successes:

It seems that no matter what you do, that success eludes you:

In fact, you have a long list of things you've tried:

And you value getting money as fast as possible:

The common thread is that you have a lot of ideas, but you can't seem to stick to one. As you said yourself:

Is that working?

Wow! I just realized something from that one line in your post. I technically have been chasing "fast money", but I haven't!

To explain, I've been comparing my success to others who have made a good income in a year or two. And I thought I too should be able to do the same thing. I have access to this forum, youtube etc... Why not? Well that's where I went wrong. Because instead of thinking about how to affectively grow a business I've been trying to meet their income level in a wdtwin amount of time! Basically I now realize that mindset is why I'm in this position now.

Because I am not chasing fast money. Or didn't intend to. Just what I thought was supposed to be normal based on others success.

In contrast if making 500 a month in two years of work was the "norm" I wouldn't have even made this post! That's why you guys keep thinking I'm chasing money. But I was just gauging myself wrong. Thanks, that opened my eyes anew. But yeah I'll.... Try to pick something to stick to.

Scary post. But I can achieve the minimum standard now. Actually all the kids in college lived on less than me. Get a room mate, work, go to school. Simple. If I wanted that I'd stay in school or just not even care about starting a business. In fact what I can make from flipping and my clips plus a normal ole job would be more than enough for a comfy "minimum standard of living". But I don't want to live on the slowlane, see family only thrice a year and be bound to one city most my life. Thus I chose this path.

But you're very right! At this rate I'll never succeed. And I know how long channels take. It took me two goddamn years just to learn this lesson I'm experiencing now.

But if I visited my future self at 30 and the only thing he accomplished was a successful youtube channel or a online business that allows him to travel wherever, actually see his family when wants and live decent. I'd be happy.

I would not be happy if all he has is a job at Apple. Because his financial life is still not in his hands.

Good luck.
Thanks. I completely agree. I love GaryVee. It's just I know I couldve accomplished more by this point.
Here's that video, hope someone here finds it helpful...

Thanks MJ.

No one wants to hear the story in real-time, they only want the 300-page, survivor bias-based, feel-good, rags-to-riches story at the end.

You're just on chapter 2, dude.
Thanks bro.
Yeah, MJs books are the only ones I relisten to. I learned most self help books right now can only really tell me what I know I need to do. Work hard, but smart, right and be consistent. Just like fitness teaches you. It sounds a bit vain but if I keep reading self help stuff or just clutter my brain and has me reevaluate my life each book. Just too much for me mentally right now. I think I'll chill on youtube for now too. You guys are making me realize my social media consumption may have contributed to my stasis in success. I'm grateful for these responses.

Indeed, my story is very early on, I need to slow down.
You seem to have a very negative way of looking at your life, please consider starting a therapy, it's very hard to stick to something when you constantly self-sabottage yourself internally.

This is a great post. Thanks stranger, whoever you are. I do think therapy could help. I get bouts of anxiety which never ever used to happen to me until last year actually. My mind gets foggy and frankly am gonna get into meditation. Also I have adhd which I know contributes to me spinning from thing to thing. But the conscious mind is a powerful thing. I can control my impulses as long as I acknowledge them, which I now do from these posts.

Well thanks guys, I learned a lot from these posts and not sure exactly what to do yet. But I know the principles.

Really grateful to you all and hopefully you guys can take something positive from my experience too.

In a perfect world someone would show me a crystal ball which shows exactly what I'd need to learn, skill wise to get autonomy over my life. And even if took 10 years I'd stick to thag one thing and be happy doing it. It's just the lack of clairvoyance and so much info has plagued me.

But the one post about the fish farming had me realize something. It's a long game regardless, and takes work. Just can't gauge success from individuals. But should be more macro.

Also sorry for any typos, rushing.

And one final thing.....

It sounds like you are trying to be the 'underdog hero' thing.

You know
  • rags to riches
  • against all odds
  • ignoring the naysayers, including your own family

Trying to live your life as the typical character/story arc of books and movies made since David and Goliath.

If this is what you're doing, stop it.

Yes, everyone wants to be the underdog hero, like in the movies. But that largely only exists in the movies. Do what works. It may be boring, and won't make for a great movie. But if you do what works, and it actually works, your life will make the movies look like a joke.

Best of luck to you!

You spend 500$ on porn pics or something, but you won't spend 600$ in having shelter ? Comen on man, that doesn't maky ANY sense.
You need some basic stability, and rutine, in order to have a working business.
I bet your diet isn't much better than your bed and shelter situation. How does a crappy diet affects energy levels ? Anxiety? Stress? How does that effect productivity?
It's hard to work if you feel like crap all day. Without a house you probably don't have good food, good sleep, etc. Even with the best idea you probably would suck at execution.
To have success you need a top performing working human brain. Without good food and sleep that won't happen. I say get at least a room in a shared appartment.

Lots of good advice given here so far. In summary, it looks like you need some stability, routine, commitment to education, and the willingness to bite the bullet and get a steady job.

I want to add the list of wealthy people’s habits:

Pick just one of those habits and stick to it over the next year, while you’re in the process of getting yourself off the ground. Start with something small and within your reach, like flossing your teeth every day.

You need to train yourself to stick to a good habit repeatedly, no matter what happens.

nking and opportunity to network.

Look at
Actually, I know a guy who went homeless (walked away from a success-full business) in July 2020 & is documenting his journey to $1 million in a year. First thing he did was get a place to stay on couchsurfing platform & then started flipping free couches online for quick cash & now he has a content agency & starting an ecom coffee business.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJY9ruwZ8Jk

If I were homeless, I would start offering handyman services on Yelp & craigslist, very few tools needed & very easy work, you can easily make $100 per hour without being tied to a 9-5pm. it sucks as your trading time for money, but at least your basic needs are met.

In terms of aniexty, I suffer big-time from anxiety and uncertainty about my business-future. Today, I spent $80 on tennis equipment, & played my first tennis game today. Feels much better to get away from the internet. Exercise or outdoors reduces your stress/anxiety, while the browsing the internet can mess you up mentally(anxiety, stress, fear).

Thank you for your openness and honesty. You seem sincere, and as if you truly want to learn. I also am here as a humble person who truly wants to learn, and I respect you for this. Like you I've seen some tough times but many of us have and it is no barrier to success. One thing I will say is that you will get there. It will come together for you.

Life happens for us to grow, these have been learning experiences for you. You will learn, develop, and grow. You're not in a race with any of these 'college' kids bro. I went to a top school and just got shit-canned from my job where I was for 3 years, and I'm back living with my parents at 29. However, I am grabbing life by the balls and carefully, patiently following MJ's advice. I just took an entry level Project Coordinator role (I was a Project Manager) and it will cover my basics, I am going to now change my skillset (learn PPC & Copywriting), and from there I'll make some incremental progress over time.

You have something special in you and I really feel for where you've been and what you've endured. Like I said, I've had some really rough time too, but so many of us have. With the right strategy and work ethic we will both turn this around bro. You are talented and have an inner-drive. Your Mom isn't right and you will achieve your goals once you've internalised the lessons the posters above have given you.

Please don't give up bro. Please keep going. It will come together.
