Hey all,
My name is Joona (pronounced "yawn-ah" with the h at the end being silent) and I come from Finland. Currently I am living in Düsseldorf, Germany for a few more weeks before I head back to Finland for holidays and January. After that I am planning to move to Budapest, Hungary (Lived there before for half a year, my gf is from there). I have two masters degrees - in industrial management (major knowledge management, minor IT) and also from business school (major international technology and innovation management). No, I don't have huge loans because of that. Studying in Finland is free. I have been working in few international companies full-time for 2,5 years (on IT, data quality stuff) and didn't like that at all. So in the summer of 2010 while still studying for my MBA I started thinking more about what I want in life and especially how do I want it. I came to the conclusion that I need to create something and not work for someone else. Later that fall I bumped in to MJs book, read it, liked it a lot. I have been lurking on this forum occasionally but now finally decided to join and contribute.
Since this spring I have been doing SEO as a freelancer for small companies in Finland. There is a company that sells the services and then outsource them to me. So yeah, I am very much still stuck on the slowlane (and not earning much) while I am ramping up my own stuff on the side (and then earning a lot 😀).
To the point.
As I wrote in the headline, I really find the pursuit of mediocrity disgusting. Everywhere you look you just see mediocre stuff and half-assed effort. "It is okay." No it is not! Sure, you can make some money on mediocre stuff for a while, but I believe you need to create huge value for paying customers to really get out of the slowlane and enter the fastlane.
I am really interested in systems and processes and making them work for me. That also covers system design and process improvement. I also believe in testing and tracking, which I believe are the cornerstones of successful businesses. Where am I heading? First I want to master information product creation process. I have created a framework and have tested it to create my own info product that I will publish in the coming weeks. I want to continue to iterate on that process, test it more and at some point commercialize it. That is the first step. Then I want to focus more on the systems to build leverage. I know these things will take time and a lot of effort.
That's about it. I am most likely contributing to this forum in the Web business section but also on other subsection.
If you read this and my plans/mindset resonates with you, feel free to PM me.
