Hi all,
I read TMF about a year ago and then again on my recent honeymoon. I love the CENTS framework and the exposure of the fallacy of the conventional wisdom regarding wealth creation and/or retirement planning.
That said, I am currently on the sidewalk according to TMF standards. I am a corporate attorney and make a very comfortable living but it's not enough to ever be independently wealthy and it is directly linked to my time. I literally exchange my hours for pay - we bill in six minute increments and I keep track of every minute of every day.
However, I have a very strong entrepreneurial spirit. I have always thought about business ideas even as a kid, through high school, college and law school. I'd almost describe it as an obsession.
My first step off of the sidewalk so far has been to buy a 12 unit apartment building in June 2012. It's been going very well, I've raised the NOI 30% and actually kind of like landlording. However, it's not fastlane. I'd buy another building like mine in a heartbeat but they are hard to find.
I have some other ideas in the works and very much look forward to learning as much as I can here. Also, I'm hoping to offer any value I can as both an attorney and an apartment building investor.
