Help about websites

Hi Guys
So I'm new to this forum and i have read millionaires fast lane and its a great book. My fast lane ideas and process include wanting to build a website and maybe creating a forum but i don't know where to begin and if I am on the right track can someone help me out. I'm currently reading the complete idiots guide to creating a website but looking at other pages even thefastlaneforum page source i don't know how I am going to get there anyone have suggestions or books a i should read anything will help thanks =).
