Hi there,
Just wanted to introduce myself; my name is Deacon I’m 33, and I’m from Newcastle, a couple of hours north of Sydney in Australia.
I’ve recently just finished the book Millionaire Fastlane which was a recommendation on a random reddit forum. The book was insightful and helped bring some framework to how I view society and I am wanting to seek financial freedom.
I’m very fortunate to have grown up in a family with a father who owned and managed small businesses over the years, to our current family business which now employs in excess of 50 individuals and is quite successful. My father is a good example of the mindset required to achieve financial freedom.
My background is; I left school early in year 10, did a trade as a marine mechanic got over it, went to uni and did a bachelor of mechanical engineer graduating with HD / Honours, which progressed into a career as a Project Director/Manager on railway infrastructure projects and multiple business improvement / growth roles.
Throughout all of this I always wanted the freedom of working for myself and seeing my hard work correlate into my financial freedom, rather than some unknown shareholders.
Fast forward to now and as of a month ago I resigned, got married, and transitioned into the family business to support its growth with my brother who currently runs it.
While it’s an existing business which I’m very fortunate to move into, I’m also working to diversify and further grow this business into supporting new ventures.
In terms of my goals, I want to be wealthy, I want to build multi-generational wealth, I want to be able to spend money without thinking twice.
So here I am.
Cheers - Deak.
