Hello there.
I'm Rhiannon (yes, just like the Fleetwood Mac song). I'm 31 and currently ~100 pages into The Millionaire Fastlane .
In reading @MJ DeMarco 's eye-opening book, I've come to realize I have spent my life following the preachings of the Slowlane. I've been such a good pupil to the Slowlane teachings that just a few months ago I completed my PhD in Geophysics so I could make a good living through a good career. Turns out my desired employer is requiring me to start as a Postdoc earning a considerably lower starting salary than a M.S.-holding counterpart. Oof. As dream shattering and heart breaking it was for me, I'm grateful for the wake up call. Without it, I'd likely be content to climb the corporate ladder, pinch pennies, and invest for the next 30-40 years to never truly find freedom.
Anyway, I'm now working on making and executing a plan for getting myself into the Fastlane. I recognize that though some time and energy and youth have been lost during my time in the Slowlane, not all has been lost. I've obtained many useful skills and made many great connections/friendships. Now I'm looking forward to connecting to, learning from, and contributing to this community. Hope to interact with you soon!
P.S. I admit that I am quite new to this rich and valuable forum and thus have not yet fully explored all it has to offer, but @MJ DeMarco (or any other seasoned member), could you kindly point me to the private Women's Forum? I saw a link to the private Men's Forum in the required new-member reading, but did not see a link to the Women's Forum. Though new here, I already appreciate this forum's inclusivity and high expectations for individual conduct!
