Welcome! Chi-Town is a great place.

First off, the fact that you are in school is great! Keep it up and finish. Build a network of successful people while there. Use this time to find others like you that can help you grow a business. Also, most colleges have great entrepreneurial support programs, that come with free prize money, mentoring, and a vast amount of resources. I went to UofM, and their entrepreneurial program was incredible.

There are so many business ideas available. Given you are still in school and may just be starting out, look for something that you are passionate about, will allow you time to finish school, and bring in other trusted associates to help, and share in the fun.

Depending on what you like - each business idea may require different levels of expertise, capital, resources, etc. But there are some that you can do just by yourself. Developing apps, or simple products - (kickstarter stuff) or providing tutoring services, or running a side hustle (party planner, event coordinator) could be perfect while you are finishing up school.

When I was in school around your age, I was running a book swap (taking 10-15% cut on the books I would re-sell for client), selling life insurance to friends and family, part time, and developing entrepreneurial skills. I also was developing by business acumen and looking for the next gig that could be a spring-board for the next big opportunity.

Also depending on your personality, the role you take in the company may be unique to your skill sets. Not everyone is made to be the CEO or Captain. It is just fine to be the COO, CFO, or CTO. You can still run the company (via your equity and shareholder voting rights) and yet do what you love.

Best of luck, and find something you enjoy doing, that has great potential for either time freedom or financial freedom, or better yet both, and pursue that.
