Health Insurance for Entreprenuer

I'm just about to make the leap from my day job into full-time entrepreneurship. I've finally made it!
Both my wife and I have been on my day job's health insurance and when I leave we will have to figure out the health insurance side.
My wife's job does not offer any insurance for us.

Honestly, the health insurance component is the scariest part. We are both around 50 years old (no kids) and both have some serious health issues. In short, we NEED good coverage; no exceptions.
My day-job has been a public school teacher and the insurance is/was amazing...but that's all about to end.

Does anybody have any health insurance recommendations for us?

That routes me to our Connecticut portal which I investigated a bit a while back.
Just looked into it again. I remember getting so disgusted I quit looking into it and now I can see why.
For 50 year old farts like us living in CT the insurance is insanely high!

I'm seeing monthly premiums ~ $1,200/mo + $14,000/year deductibles; give or take.
That's a financial commitment of around $28,400/year if we use coverage which we certainly will.
$14,400/yr just to have a plan and not use it too (if by some miracle we didn't need to)

Is this normal?
Do you guys really spend $25k - $30k a year just on health insurance?
