"I made a million dollars in SaaS"
View: https://twitter.com/_rchase_/status/1413669495902703617
"It began in January 2018 when I read @MJDeMarco's book "The Millionaire Fastlane " and decided I wanted to start a SaaS because I read that it was a great business model."
Mentioned here, last year, by his friend:
EXECUTION - SAAS / APPS - I wrote a SaaS product because the internet made me believe it'd make me rich
This is a repost from my blog. I am copy pasting it here in it's entirety. I posted this to Hacker News yesterday and made the frontpage for around 15 hours, which was super cool. My intention is that it can help others out. I'm hoping this is allowed, I didn't want to just drop a link and I...www.thefastlaneforum.com
Thanks for sharing my story @loop101!
And thank you @MJ DeMarco, I wouldn't have built this business if I hadn't read TMFL. I had a great conversation with @ZackSprague over the weekend who found me through this post.
Funny story about how I discovered TMFL book. I was working at Steelcase in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During my lunch breaks I was usually working on projects for my IT services side business, but one day there was a Network Engineer on my team who had quit and it was his last day. I had lunch with him and asked him where he was going next. Steelcase was one of the best places to work, so I figured he had to be doing something big if he was quitting.
He quit because he had created toys for kids that focused on teaching science and technology and built it up for a few years already. He had even flown to China to meet with manufacturers and attend toy manufacturing conferences there. That side business was generating more income than his (high earning) job as a Network Engineer at Steelcase, so it just didn't make sense for him to keep going to work he said.
TMFL was what got him started on that and he recommended it to me.

I couldn't put the book down, finished reading it about a week later.

A few months later, I launched a SaaS business:

3 years later I made my first million dollars, and this year I'll most likely make a second million ($940K in annual recurring revenue right now).
Along the way I've always been open about my progress, sharing updates and trying to help others who want to take this journey as well because I couldn't have done it without the people like @MJ DeMarco who showed me the way.
If I can help anyone with questions, especially SaaS model, just let me know! DMs are open too.
