Hi guys, id like to get anybody's opinion on something. My wife is currently looking to start up a little business selling t shirts on shopify. The t shirts she will be selling will be aimed towards a niche, with basically 0 competition, and is something that will provide great value to its customers. I know this because it relates to a life experience we recently had to go through and at the time we wished we had a t shirt related to this niche to wear.
This is not something she expects to get rich from, its just she wants to help other people who have gone through what she/us have gone through and she would like to give some portion of profits to a charity directly related to this cause.
Now my question is, does anybody have experience with giving a percentage of profits to a charity? Is it a good idea and could it potentially improve sales? The business has potential to expand well beyond just t shirts to other items, but at the beginning she was thinking about giving $1 From each shirt sold to a charity of her choice. This would be around 10-12% of her profit from each shirt sold, as our margins aren't that high due to going through a print on demand/dropship company.
Anyway enough rambling, i just wanted to hear some stories about people donating proceeds to charity and if anyone on here has done it?
Thanks guys
