He got paid for a companies oversite, not any real value.

Interesting but I don't see how this would apply to anyone selling websites.

I saw this on hacker news yesterday; a lot of the comments were in agreement bout how easy it is to get into overruns.

If anything, I used that as a lesson about control, and quick/accurate delegation to contractors should the need ever arise. It's not good to helicopter but if there's a chance they can walk out with even 180% of what the initial contract stated, to hell with that.

That happens and big companies often don't count their money well for some reason. Yet, it's not scalable/repetitive so not a business plan.
