So here’s my situation — raw, real, and completely off-script.
I’m a young Gen Z in my early 20s, and I’ve had enough of this system.
The more I observe the modern world, the more it feels like a high-tech mousetrap dressed up as opportunity. Rent is skyrocketing, wages are flatlining, and even if you buy a house, you’re chained to it like a prisoner until the day you die.
I’ve sent out over 1,000 job applications. Zero calls. No interviews.
I stopped trying to “play the game.”
Now? I’m building my own.
This summer, I started stacking micro cash flows—mowing lawns, walking dogs, cleaning yards.
No capital, no connections, just work ethic and fire.
I'm still living in my parents’ basement, but I’ve got a vision:
Own land. Grow food. Sell the surplus. Regain control.
Not just financial control—food security, spiritual peace, and full-spectrum sovereignty.
But every time I speak that dream out loud, the system tries to spit in my face.
That’s slave talk.
That’s the sound of people who already gave up.
That’s not me.
I’ve been treated like trash in past jobs. Bosses abusing their little ounce of authority like playground tyrants. That pain? That disrespect? It lit a fire in me.
Like MJ DeMarco says, I had that FTE moment — where I realized I'd rather die building my vision than live building someone else’s.
Recently, I found a channel called ThePhilosophicalGamer.
He speaks what so many of us feel but can’t articulate—calling out the BS, the fake freedom, the corporate gaslighting. His videos are the voice of a generation that’s done being lied to.
I’m also inspired by a YouTuber named Grangfist.
Dude built his own off-grid cabin by hand. Grew food. Hunted. Lived on his terms. Took him 7 years.
That’s not just impressive — that’s warriorship.
I may not want to be 100% off-grid, but I damn well want agency, and I respect the hell out of people like him who went all in.
Meanwhile, I’m in training.
Mental. Physical. Spiritual.
I meditate daily, not for peace and love—for discipline.
This system wants you soft, broke, addicted, distracted.
I want to be sharp, dangerous, unshakeable.
I’m not running from hard work.
I’m running from the slow death that comes from living safe, working for crumbs, and dying with regrets.
So here’s my ask:
Are there any Fastlaners here who’ve bought land or built a homestead?
What are the truths no one tells you?
What would you have wanted to know in your early 20s, before you made the leap?
I’m a blank slate and I’m ready to absorb.
I’m not here to play small.
I’m here to reclaim everything they told me to rent.
Let’s talk.

“Just get a nice office job.”
“You’ll work way harder for less money on a farm.”
“Land’s too expensive. Be realistic.”
That’s slave talk.
