Looking for some feedback on my first action thoughts.
BACKGROUND
I introduced myself on here a few weeks back but will refresh anyone’s memory that didn’t read or forgot.
This has made the idea stage somewhat difficult because I don’t identify with a lot of the content I read. Doesn’t make it any less valuable just makes me wonder if I should focus my efforts elsewhere.
WHERE I’M AT NOW
I haven’t engaged any market of any kind up until this point in my life. Each day that passes I can feel my life slipping further out of my control so I need to act.
I do quite a bit of tree cutting through my current job and you’d be surprised how many customers call in asking for trees to be taken down or trimmed. Pretty much all of what we do is cutting downed trees off of live powerlines or trees that have ripped wires down and broke utility poles. I have years of experience doing this however.
My idea is to start a tree service that is niche to my area of expertise that doesn’t involve removing whole trees and would be estimated to take no more than an hour of actual work per job. I can verify there is a need for it as well.
I want to be clear that this is not exactly my intended fastlane at this time because I’ve worked manual/skilled labor jobs my entire life and I don’t wanna be the guy out there doing the work. I also don’t want to go down this road and just create another “job” for myself as I see often in the blue collar world. Guys start their own business and work even more than they did as an employee. I don’t know how I could scale this into a life changing and freedom giving business but maybe that doesn’t matter at this time. I could start it on less than $500 invested.
THE INPUT I NEED
Is this worth my time? I feel a great sense of urgency to create lasting change that will give me freedom and don’t want to start something when I could focus my efforts on something more valuable.
Should I just say f*** it and start this on the side and hope that something else maybe in an entirely different market reveals itself to me along the way?
Essentially what I’m asking is if I start my own business even if it’s not what I WANT to do.. is it worth it because I will gain business experience?
Thanks in advance for any input! This forum is incredible.
