What’s up everyone!
I'm Lisardo and I've been on this forum roughly for about 6 months….lurking, reading up on all the valuable information. Entrepreneurship is a lonely road and I’m surrounded by slowlaners. I’m joining this community so it doesn’t have to be a lonely one for me. Here's a little bit about myself, Sorry if it’s long.
I Graduated from College in Boca Raton FL (Visual Effects Artist) in 2011. I landed a job in LA after graduation. I worked 2 years in the Film Industry before Quitting my job because I was overworked and I was under payed. I had my own place and I had no idea what to do next seeing as I had bills to pay. One week after departing the company I started Mobile App business having no idea how to run a business or anything about apps. I was just utterly determined to get rich own. I read up as much as I could on apps literally from when I woke up to when I went to bed at night. I launched 14 apps in 4 months for Android and iOS.
4 months later, revenues didn’t happen as expected. I depleted my savings and I was dead broke. First time at anything is difficult especially apps. I struggled for nearly 6 months before my parents bailed me out of LA. When I got back to Palm Beach County I landed a freelancing gig in Fort Lauderdale. Living with your parents again isn’t easy but I’m thankful for the roof over my head. I sleep on an air bed in the middle of the living room I pull out at night. I wasn’t satisfied returning to a monthly paycheck. I attempted to launch an online marketing business with my brother having no knowledge of online marketing but my previous experience with mobile apps. One month later we got as far as building one site before calling it quits (Personality clashes, Different Work ethics). It was a lessoned learned in business partnerships. I also learned about Internet Marketing during this time. Having no idea for what business to get into next I relaxed for a month to restore my batteries and read up on business.
The freelancing gig went dry a month later and I was thrown into the arena once again. While catching up with good friend I use to work with at the sales job I held during college, I spotted an opportunity. He was sitting on a great idea. He had 4 partners at the time and none could execute. I closed him on dropping those partners and moving forward with me.
In the course of the last two years, we developed a working mobile app prototype, a pitch deck, sales video, a business plan, built an industry network, connected with professionals in the industry, heavily negotiated a sale for the full app + website production with an amazing company, acquired advisors, contacted strategic partners, and have had over 30 investor meetings….. Despite all this effort, we haven’t received investment. My partner ended up getting a full time job to support himself. It’s been roughly 8 months since we’ve attempted to continue seeking investment.
In January I was diagnosed with graves disease, a hyper-thyroid condition. This forced me to take a break in general from everything and restore my health to 100%. It effects your energy, mood, and state of mind. This also caused me to have anxiety, panic attacks and heart issues for the last few months. I’m finally feeling normal again after 5 months of treatment…. And here I am, 27, Not a penny to my name, School loans, hospital bills, (recently started doing fiverr gigs for income), but determined to turn my life around.
During the last 8 months recovering, I have learned about all aspects of business.
Pairing this with my previous experience, I’m confident in my abilities to take my next business off the ground solo.
I just don’t know what to get into!
