I see you guys all the time trying to think up the next big idea, invention, or company. These are often ideas with HUGE barriers to entry and are better off left to people who already have a LOT of capital ready to spend.
My point being is this. I know 2 people who have gotten rich off of unexpected businesses.
One guy owns an HVAC company, he is only 27 years old and did not go to college. He knew nothing about HVAC but he worked as a clerk for a golf course putting away cash while I was wasting my time in college. He saw a craigslist ad for a truck and all of the right HVAC tools for sale on craigslist and decided to buy it. It was only like 12k. He hired a kid right out of trade school looking for a job and his business began. He made great money on that one truck and bought 3 more used cheap pickups and bought all the right tool for them and hired a few more guys to run them.
He now owns something like 18 trucks and makes millions of dollars in HVAC and has never fixed an air conditioner in his life. He also hired someone to take his place managing and taking the calls. He is now a dude that spends 4 days a week on the golf course actually golfing and is basically retired.
The other guy started an asphalt company with used and retired equipment from a larger company and got a few government contracts to do some roads. He hired some short term contract workers and made a few million bucks then sold the company for enough to retire. He drives a lambo and plans never to work again.
Point is it is a lot easier than thinking up some hardcore invention and following it through and spending thousands on promotion. Though that may be something to do later after you have made some money to try to make megamillions.
