Hello, thought it was high time I did a proper intro. I've been reading the forum for a few weeks now, since completing Unscripted , and have in that time finished The Millionaire Fastlane ; talk about a couple of eye opening books.
For the past several years, I've been a freelancer/limited company. While I enjoy the work, I've always had a gnawing feel regarding freedom; freedom of my time and energy. While I technically run a business, I am tied to my clients and their whims and undertake the majority of the work personally. Along the way, I have tentatively dabbled with some "business ideas", although never given them my all, or realising they are pretty much hobbies, which don't add much value to an already crowded and noisy marketplace . I also thought I was doing the right things financially; Stocks and Shares ISA, diligently paid into each month; my own company pension and few other "play" investments, never really taking into account the time it takes to grow, and the inherent risks.
At some point, I thought that maybe further education might be the answer; "it's worked for X friend and opened many doors, maybe it will do the same for me?". A Masters was applied for, accepted and subsequently deferred, as I got the heebies thinking about starting it; I think I knew that it would be a waste of time, and my intentions for wanting to do it were not clear or defined. The place is still available for me this year, but I shan't be taking it.
Since reading the books, my perspective has changed. Putting one foot in front the other, I'm taking the steps to realise an idea I've had for a while; I've made use of the grademybusiness.com calculator, learning the necessary just in time skills to complete what needs to be done to get it off ground. The 1/5/10 video has proved useful; the act of getting future ideals down on physical paper is powerful.
Looking forward to reading more wisdom and insights from the community, and reporting back with progress.
Thanks!
