Hello!
I'll jump right in. I've had a possible opportunity offered to me but would like advice.
Is rank and rent an ethical and legal business model?
Ie: Creating a website for a business that doesn't exist (or under some marketing business you create) generating massive amounts of leads, and then selling or renting ect ect those leads to a legitimate business who performs those services.
At first this opportunity looked very great. On the surface, the model seems great (albeit not perfect) and could be a learning/stepping stone into more things. Seemed like basic valuable lead gen.
However, the more I looked into it and learned about the model the more concerns I had with legality and ethics.
I've now learned through experience that this system can be done many many many different ways.
So my question is this.
Are there correct ways to do this model that are legal and ethical and are there wrong ways to do this model that are illegal and unethical (or legal but unethical)? If possible I would love examples of either that you know about or have seen.
Usually I feel like my BS detector works very well, but with the situation I am in, a lot of it feels "grey" which is a little alarming and confusing. I would love help with getting clarity on this.
Thank you for your time and input.
