Introduction
I am new to the forum and the fastlane community. I finished reading the book two or three weeks ago now (time flies)! This was a great reading as it was one of the few that were aligning to my way of thinking. It was really reassuring to see that it was possible to get real success this way. I somehow always knew it. But when you've read most of the business books around the topic of wealth, you end up with classic love-what-you-do strategies and save-money kind of things.
If like me, you always used to think differently than the majority, you will understand how these readings quickly get confusing. And as nobody wants to act under confusion when it comes to life choices (at least I know I want to be a minimum sure of where I am going), you stall...
But now, things get clearer to me, so it is time for action!
What is my situation now?
I am currently working as a technical support advisor in a call center, for one year and a half, in a global company, and in a foreign country. At the time, this job offer was a good call (if I can say so), as it saved me from being broke, got me out of mom-and-dad's, and gave me a decent earning to start with (plus different perks, English proficiency, culture change experience, professional experience and expertise...). So not THAT bad for a start.
However, I am getting tired of the job, as it does not stimulate my desire to learn, now that I know everything I have to. Plus, I am coming home exhausted by the customers (troubleshooting technical issues all day, while being reassuring, polite, professional, efficient, and answering a new call every 10 seconds is simply an energy black hole).
So, always having in my head my dreams, I managed to secure a position at home beginning in February, which will give me the following advantages:
-quieter job (less, shorter and simpler calls, more administrative tasks (that I can get as automated and formatted as possible))
-saving public transport money (public, not free)
-saving transportation time
-it will pay for my internet
-I keep all my other perks and salary
-AND I will be able to save my personal energy (the best advantage to my opinion)
So, pretty much a good deal, and a comfortable position, to start getting my life to the next level.
What is the plan for 2016?
The plan has somehow already started months ago when I was applying to this new position. But it got more consistent as my eyes were being opened by MJ's words. They actually become my reality when I woke up this morning after a-zero-waste-home revolution of two days (I am an avid reader). It is crazy how getting your (house) stuff together can help thinking straight sometime!
So here is the plan!
1 - the at-home job will provide me with the money necessary to pay the bills, the rent and the food, as well as providing a secure net if the shit hits the fan (or can potentially help leverage advertising or any other business related costs if everything goes great)
2 - start reading and learning all I can about writing, until I have this one-more-hour-a-day and remaining energy I can peacefully dedicate to writing (in February).
3 - start writing books (I have always had a feel for stories and the art of writing, but never really gave it a go, even thou I have a pretty creative imagination). Plus, it is one of my life's goal (uncommon dream, I know).
4 - get these books to sell enough to create a basis for something else (I know I will end up running something, I just did not find something I can start with my current skills and resources yet.)
Other life-changing goals for the year 2016
1 - get to buy a house/flat (I'd rather pay for a mortgage and pay myself and the bank, than giving my money to someone else)
2 - complete my zero-waste home transition (everyone have their opinion, but to me, it means a simpler, richer, healthier life. It rings like being a samurai-monk-master with a wooden manoir next to the mountain-top meditation-waterfall kind of things! I told you I had a powerful imagination!)
3 - get a next step business idea/strategy/plan if things get good for me.
That is all: wish me strength, discipline and persistence!
