I tried a little experiment over the past month. I wanted to see if I could generate a decent sum of cash without using any of my own money.
I'm also lazy and didn't want to put much effort into it, so the goal was to make as much as possible, while doing as little as possible.
In fact, I never even left my house and in the end I net just over $1,200.
Here's how I did it (and how you can too);
Searched online for Boxing Day/Clearance Sales. Found a specific brand of laptop reduced to $299 from $799 with free shipping. Ordered 5 of them. Total spent ~$1,500. (I put it on a credit card, so the goal was the sell them within the pay period.
They arrived about a week later. I put ONE ad up on craigslist and just left it there. I listed for $699. You know you can't go wrong when people lowball you and you still make $150+ per item lol. Average sale price was about $550.
As mentioned I wanted to do as little as possible so I usually just accepted first offer. If I needed the money then I would have countered.
Never even had to update or take down the ad, because in the ad I only made reference to 'one' laptop... made me chuckle every time someone emailed me to ask if I still had 'it'.
It's relatively easy to make money. It's harder to keep it, but I think I've got that down now haha.
The last laptop sold about an hour ago. In the end it took exactly 1 month from order date to the last one sold. I never used a dime of my own cash as it fell within the credit card billing cycle.
I don't even know anything about computers. All I did was look up what that same exact laptop sells for and/or sold for in the past. I noticed there was potential there so I took the 'risk'.
You can do the same. Just use the advanced search on eBay to filter to see what your items sell for. Note: It doesn't really matter what people are asking for, the only important number is what people have been willing to pay.
Time to order a free pizza and watch the Pro Bowl
Cheers.
