You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.
This is a well known scene from Matrix. I have reached the same conclusion in my life. And what follows is both a cautionary and a motivational advice.
I've lost my sense of reality. I am the kind of person that read all the self-help book he could find. I have searched for all ways to improve myself. And it worked. At a young age, while most of my peers are still learning, I was living on my own, making a "ton" of money (enough to live like a rock-star") and having the girl of my dreams next to me.
However, the bubble burst. I've put too much emphasis on self-help. I've thought that Jim Rohn or Tony Robbins or even MJ can help make my life better. What I've read helped me. But these were merely directions. I was taking the blue pill of a world where everything is like in the self-help books (sorry MJ. Your book is awesome and it's one of the few books that did good instead of harm).
Now I've awaken to reality, in debt, relationships around me crumbling, legal problems. It's nothing that can't be solved and I've learned an important thing ...
Don't learn from self-help ...
Learn from self-experience. Learn from doing, from feeling, from being there, from taking the red pill and actually experiencing the world. The world is not this forum. This is a magic place where everybody starts a business and everybody wants to make $1.000.000/year.
Again, this is not a real world. So even if I may break my rule now and then, I'm done posting. I'm done blogging. I'm done creating Skype based relationships.
From now on, if I want to learn something, I'm doing it in the real world from real people. I'll still study daily for 30 minutes (and 15 - 20 on the toilet) but that's all. No more mental masturbation that reading my entire bookshelf of motivational books will help me build the life I want.
It won't. I have to take the red pill.
And taking the red pill means leaving away all the "feel good" help, all the ilussion of greatness and start walking and learning from the real world. Being a bookworm helps achieve success. But you'll eventually have to face reality, a place where things are not so rational as in the self-help literature.
And no matter how much time you spend on this forum, nothing can prepare you for the hits you'll take out there.
Hope you've learned something from this,
Razvan
