This is the Imp speaking - mastermind of your id, a golden voice of irrationality for all the mind's devil-may-care, pleasure-seeking urges. It's not all bad. It exists for a reason - a little dose of pleasure at the right time works all kinds of unspoken wonders for our sanity and health, after all.
However, be forewarned of it's hedonistic nature... Pleasing the imp is one man's after-dinner caramel and another man's arson binge.
The imp takes it's job of comforting you very seriously and it wants to do everything in it's power. It wants full control and demands to be heard over everything else. It's not truly evil - it cares for your well-being, your wants, your desires! It's prospects are just stupidly short-sighted - a stubborn animal forever stuck hunting in tunnel-vision. It has no time to stop and predict, or to draw out a future. It has no time to reflect on the foolish outcomes it's led you to in the past. All it cares for is what it wants the most at this very second.
Clearly, it's something you do not want in your driver's seat. Surrender, give up control, and "appease the monster" will slowly become the #1 - if not the only - goal of your mind. Until the monster is fully outgrown, outsmarted, tamed, and contained effectively - you are basically at risk of having an animal trick out your life for you. It is part of who you are and it will not go away! It will wage endless wars for domination of the floorspace in your head. It does this thinking it knows best. It attacks knowing your every weakness well. Having a strong drive, it will obsessively unleash it's worst to seize control of your identity. Worst-case ends with you in complete submission and fear of it.
Saying "not right now" and not instantly complying with such a force can cause quite a lot of doom and gloom for the many that live in constant fear of it. At the mercy of their own imagination, they slowly morph into one-track comfort junkies. The ultimate sidewalkers.
This, I believe, to be the metadata - the subconscious enslavement - behind the overabundance of self-entitlement we see today. Humans that never domesticated, or - in their own words - "fell victim to" the spoiled, childish imp in their head.
In this spot, you are perpetually trading or bargaining a future of infinite possibilities for laziness and simple comforts. The stronger the imp's presence, the stronger it signals gremlins - the infamous monsters famous for collective destruction and chaos - to go ahead and tear apart the Taj Mahal of your projected future piece-by-piece and leave behind a bombed-out Motel 6 (b-but... it has Color TVs!). One may never break out of that default state of unhappiness without first taking up the task of restoring order in their own head.
Tame the imp, or be pimped and taken on a rough, scary, and tragic ride for the rest of your days.
