I just read a story on SlashDot about a guy who let a domain name expire for his business after years of non-use, but forgot to tell his old customers. Seems some Russian hackers bought the domain name, cloned the old site, found his old contact's email addresses, and started charging those old customers. Not sure how many of those old customers "bought" into the gimic and actually sent them money, but it just goes to show you to shore-up loose ends when you decide to close up shop.
