I just come back to read this to remind me of why I work on my business until 2am many mornings.

Oh so Vigilante is rude for giving someone a valuable lessons for free, and that woman is not rude for asking for FREE favors.

I used to do a lot of FREE favors. I'd be so happy if that was "just" loss of time. But it also guarantees you loss of EVEN MORE time, loss of patience, loss of those who you did favor to as friends, and even possibly them thinking/talking bad about you.

No more free work from me. And the only worse kind than free work is CHEAP work. Because that pocket change they give you somehow gives them infinite entitlement to lifetime support and guarantee on whatever you sold them.

its sad that society vilifies and penalizes people like this. society should celebrate and protect entrepreneurs not penalize them(taxes etc)

the single best thing you can do for society is to be an entrepreneur and create value, jobs and wealth. by far. these days you are accused of being lucky and bad for being productive and called a capitalist pig(thanks kak )

You are not owed a read from a professional, even if you think you have an in, and even if you think it's not a huge imposition. It's not your choice to make. This needs to be clear--when you ask a professional for their take on your material, you're not just asking them to take an hour or two out of their life, you're asking them to give you--gratis--the acquired knowledge, insight, and skill of years of work. It is no different than asking your friend the house painter to paint your living room during his off hours.

ive found that making money isnt difficult if you put your time in and work hard, but every year that goes by i have started thinking more and more about people like you that have time and i get this feeling of intense anxiety... life is passing by everyday, hopefully im lucky to catch on to it young but money isnt what scares me time is.

Wow, I literally stopped reading right before your post to make that post. Guess I should have read one more. His 1 veyron is 1 of 1 in the world, and he sold his 08. I believe he has another 2013 on its way. Nice guy, met him at a couple car events. He does a lot to help.

This thread has been motivational to me and actually drove me to action. I became aware of a need today, walked into a store and made a pitch to solve their need. Within 20 minutes, they are considering using me to fill a 50,000 unit order that will be worth $150k in sales. Keep in mind, I have no equipment or location to make these units should I get the order but I feel like I'm under motion.

This is a GOLDEN thread as others have said. I'm glad to see so many great posts from like-minded people on here.

My wife had an equally interesting point. The more you expose your life to people, the more vulnerable you become to their assumptions.

Your wife makes an excellent point. This is why no one, even family members, know what I do. They just see the results.
