I found a freelance platform to work as a copywriter (in French).

Here's what they pay you for the jobs (after VAT each time).

- ecommerce text about candles, must be SEO-ready and HTML-optimized. 200 words. Salary: €8.57 after VAT
- text about luxury goods, must be professional quality, 340 words: €12.56
- four texts of 1000 words each (4000 words total), must be SEO-ready: €122,08
- four summaries of four books. Total number of words: 6000: €98,28
- Real estate program, one text of 220 words to deliver every day for 100 days. Total number of words: 22 000. Pay: €644,15.

Are these incredibly low paid, or am I being a bitch?

Depends how long you expect the projects to take. If the first one takes you 30m, that's about $20/hr, USD. That isn't minimum wage.

I worked for a large marketing agency (500 employees, 5000 customers) in the US. My pay was minimum wage for the 8-hour workaday plus $18 per 500-word article. I was writing about 5 articles a day. This was 2016-2018.

Thing is, my company was charging the client $150 for that same article.

Now, I work for myself and charge prices more in that range.

So yes, that is really low pay.

But - congratulations on landing some work! You're providing value and exercising your writing muscle. This is valuable training.

Leverage the fact that you have served these clients to go and get other clients. Raise your rates every time, but do it gradually until people start turning you down because it's too expensive. Then stop just below that, and you will have found your sweet spot.

But you can do it in your free time while you build a business and utilize geoarbitrage to make that money go further while living somewhere cheaper.

Then, my advice would be to find as many remote jobs that could be done by virtual assistants as possible, accept those jobs and then forward them to your workers to do. It would be trial and error, and you'd be fired from a couple of those jobs probably, but imagine having 15 simple and low-maintenance jobs all being done by virtual assistants while you make 200k a year off the difference.

When you divide the price by the number of words, you get 0.03-0.04 euros per word. When I googled "how much should you be paid as a freelance writer", I found 0.15 euros per word was a fair price.

In these cases, writing will be quick, but research will take time. I estimate I'd take one hour to write a high-quality 500-words piece, maybe more.

I think, after writing the first 100 10€ jobs, you will have the experience to calculate your work profitable.
