So far I have about 500 visits and 150 sign ups on my landing page (took me 10 minutes to make..). It's been about 3 days. I have some facebook ads running, about 1.3k instagram followers.

But... The most important person is Dan.. I emailed his PR person, emailed Dan. I'm positive if he's on board, this can go viral. If everything goes according to plan, we'll probably branch out into beard oils, beard care products.

I am not wasting another breathe for those so caught up on the consumer's end view point that you can't see through the curtains and behind the scenes. I am sticking to purely business topics on here from now on. May as well go read up on mediatakeout and say Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton are stupid too.. and that their inbound marketing and personal branding is not smart. Spend all your time dox'ing Dan and trying to justify if he deserves it or not instead of see the business aspect and giving him props for it. Sounds like a "you" issue to me.

To be honest, i'm not a legal expert but I believe they could come after you immediately for infringing him as a person by using his name and look/face. It's like printing crosby on a tshirt and selling them, I need a licensing agreement with the NHL or I'm done.

I would put it on pause until a response.

It's kind of like impersonating MJ as a brand and trying to profit off of it.

It's either that or you put huge disclaimers that you're not dan and that dan does not approve of anything you do.

Or state that you're a fan page.

Even then, they should have the option to be able to cease and decease you

The only reason I have created a landing page, instagram page, facebook page, is to gain some traction and hopefully catch the attention of Dan. I will not be selling or manufacturing anything until I get a response from Dan or his PR person.

Probably; I would shut that down ASAP or make it private until he approves. Not a lawyer, but I think "brand dilution" is something you can sue for.

Instead of basing the whole business around Dan, why don't you build a quality beard-care business and then have him endorse it? I think the reason behind your plan is that you think by leveraging Dan's fame, your product will automatically sell. I also think that it is a bad move to base your whole business around someone who's claim to fame is a lot of instagram followers. You should develop a quality brand, a brand that men can trust, and then find all sorts of famous people who have beards to endorse it. Right now you may just creating a gimmick.
