Hopefully this is the right spot to post this, if not please let me know. Been here for a couple years and still a newbie as far as posting/interaction goes.
Here's my situation
I'm working with a company that would like me to redesign their website.
I've wanted to get into building websites from the ground up for quite some time now, and figure what better timing.
Basically I want to build them a brand new website, that gives them the professional web presence they are looking for and provides a great experience to any customer that hops on their page.
I also have a few website Ideas that I have been tinkering on for a while now that I would like to get up and rolling, and on top of all that I would like to get to a point where I can freelance local small business websites.
My current plan of attack is to design the website's using wordpress, purchase the domains through godaddy, and host with hostgator.
But when I start looking into all these extra perks they offer, and extra services I may need for security purposes, I'm getting lost!
STEP 1 - create website for the company work for
STEP 2 - create my personal websites/concepts
STEP 3 - Freelance web design for local small business's
Are there better companies to work with? Price wise, quality etc.
Does my plan of attack sound complete newbie/blind to the tech world or do you guys think I can put out quality websites this way?
Any advice would be great, thanks in advance!
