So me and my friend are both 17, we decided to start a business and sell sunflower seeds. We have the land to grow them and everything we need. And we read a lot about it and we know how to do it.
So my question is more about how to get in the market.

We're in a small town but everyone, young and old, eats sunflower seeds. We intend to make them really tasty by marinating them for longer. This would be our edge over competition, plus it's local. So any tips overall to how can we get it to the people of our town? Should we make it "legal" and get it in the supermarkets and convenience store? (We're in Canada) I don't think we'll have a big enough production this year (200-250 plants, producing about a bag each, selling them a dollar or 2 more than bigger competitors)

Tell me anything and everything that comes to your mind reading this!

Thanks!

Any tips or advice...well certainly. Everyone here will have their own perspective and their own advice (some excellent...some not so much) but this is mine:

This forum is based on the book, The Millionaire Fastlane , so perhaps the first piece of advice is to get a copy and read it. The second tip is to read it again. Third, remember the words "process" and "execution". Fourth, consider sunflower seeds a learning project. Don't expect to make $ yet, but look for skills to pick up and work on. Things such as self confidence, communication, selling a product, making deals, learning to accept losses/failures, planning a business or project...the list can go on and on. Take what you learn from the book and this first business venture to help you plan the next phase.

This is a great time in your life to start learning the value of hard work, develop a work ethic, and realize that your future is up to you and the effort you put into it! Godspeed to you and your friend.

It seems very time consuming so do A LOT of market research
to make sure it's going be worth the effort

How many sun flower seeds are being sold daily?
What's the demographics?
What flavors are sold the most?
What brand?
etc, etc

Thanks to both of you and your wise words! We're mostly doing this for fun, but yeah, we'll learn a lot and it'll teach us a lot! We'll definetely make some research too!
