The amount of overlap between the skills needed for a poker player, and a successful Investor seems to me to be too great to ignore. - So I guess, I won't ignore it at all. If you could look into my head, you would see, a box therein - and inside this box, would be the "target". You see.. my Ni - it really won't stop trying to figure "things" out - and I have discovered that its a really good idea, to give it something "tough" to chew on.
Making money with money in the stock market, has been the task keeping it busy the last few years. Lately, there seems to be little left to learn, and I think its time to remove "Stocks" from my target box, and instead insert Poker. It's the dawn of a new Adventure - let's monitor how it goes.
Do I know anyone that plays poker?. no.. not really.
Is it even legal to play in Norway?. Well, thats "complicated" - and convoluted to say the least! There are however now a Norwegian Championship in poker once a year. There are however no casinoes where you as a private person can just go and play poker - this of course does make it slightly more challenging to get started. So while I wait for the politicians to realize that allowing betting on horceraces, and bouncing balls and "banning" poker, thats actually "skill based" is very peculiar indeed - my plan is to go across the border to sweden when Im ready for some hands on experience. There they have casinoes run by the state =)
My ulterior motives? Lol - creating "spaces" for my Fe is totally a thing here. I used to spend lots of time painting miniatures, and pondering about strategies for how to play them, and then have lots of fun going to warhammer tournaments. Just the social aspect of meeting "friends" and going up against one another in mental combat, it really appeals to me as a person. I made it a priority some time back though, that most of the "stuff" that I think about, should in one way or another contribute to making me money. - hello Poker!
Another is the freedom to go anywhere in the world, and bring my "work" with me. To leisurly explore the world, seems like a thing I would enjoy doing. So investing time into a game that I could play "anywhere" seems to me like a very good idea.
Then there is this need to see if I've figures myself out yet. Im perfectly willing to "figure" out if Im able to do this or not. And pay the penalty for failing, if that turns out to be the case. Reason being, that its my intuition that really put it on the table in the first place, - and as an Infj - ignoring your intuition - is really not the way to live your life.
And then I would welcome a chance to focus in on "persons". Stocks rally did NOT do this for me. Despite popular belief that your "playing" against other persons in the stock market - well - your not. The person your playing in that game, is found in the mirror, and nowhere else. In poker though - there is actual - persons - fighting you. And you can start studying the persons - to gain a upper hand in fighting them - and that appeals to me!
I will throw my Infj personality into the pit, and see how well its able to survive. And like in the roman days, your welcome to enjoy witnessing both my failures and successes. - you could learn from both i suppose.
My first goal, would be to participate in the national championship here in norway, around september 2022. So - I have roughly a year of preparation - and starting at pretty much Zero experience there seems to me that there is little time to waste.
