Hello everyone
My name is Phillip and I am going to be perfectly honest and say I am a student, a junior in high school to be exact. I have no businesses of my own and I am in no way an "e-baller", I am just an average 17 year old when it comes to influence, income, and means. I am the son of two successful business people that have always believed in a consistent paycheck and a consistent life. Up until a few months ago I shared similar beliefs simply because I knew no other way.
That all changed with a movie, Boiler Room. Watching the group interview scene changed my entire way of thinking. I realized that all of the things that I had consigned myself to never having, all of the people I realized I would never be able to help, well they were all suddenly within my grasp. In the following months I have committed myself to learning as much about business as I possibly can and integrating myself into as many situations that provide me with the opportunity to learn from the best as the amount of hours in a day allow. Since then I have formed a business club at my school and grown it into the largest student run organization in my school. I have written over twenty grants that have provided my club with thousands of dollars of working capital. I have formed conferences and events with thousands of attendees. On a daily basis I rub shoulders with the exact people whose lifestyle I wish to attain, many of whom have become close friends and mentors. I am and always will be an entrepreneur. Hopefully this forum will provide me with the exact kind of venue I've been seeking where in I can speak with like minded individuals and discuss business to my heart's content.
I realize this has become quite long winded and I understand many won't read it but I thank you for your time in advance.
Phil

Howdy Phil,

You're on the right track. The intermingling with other influential people that have accomplished what you want to do will act as your spring board for rapid success.

Use your TIME and ENERGY constructively as that which you've outlined in your post. Find your Life's "Major" MISSION. Then surround yourself with those PEOPLE you need to make your dream a fact.

For... Thoughts(Causes) have the tendency to cloak themselves into concrete Reality(Effects).

wow Phillip, quite an intro...

welcome to the forums.

how did you manage to get the funding for your club? I did not even know there were grants for this...

also, what type of conferences are you putting together?

again, welcome!

Awesome intro Philip and it is so encouraging to see young people getting into the entrepreneurial spirit!

Thanks Lexingtonjames, I have been trying to find that "major mission" for some time now. I have so much that I want to accomplish that it is sometimes difficult to focus on only one thing, but I feel like as I go along this path what I truly want will reveal itself.

welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the warm welcome! In regards to the grants, at this point I have applied for and received grants in the name of business education, entrepreneurship promotion, financial literacy education etc. from the Burton D. Morgan Foundation, my local Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and several multi-million dollar corporations, and even a few billion dollar ones. I have been very fortunate to have the total support of my community.

Conferences and events I have put together include a Day in Business, which consisted of 38 of the largest businesses in my local Chamber of Commerce spread out over 20,000sq. ft. in a convention center style event. This was attended by 2000+ people and provided a wonderful networking opportunity for the vendors and the attendees. I know of at least 10 jobs that were created by this event and it was responsible for putting nearly $2500 into the club's coffers.

Another conference I've put together is the SEE Science and Technology Forum which brought in speakers from all over the NEO area whose entrepreneurial works in their respective fields have made them stand out among their colleagues in almost every way. This event hosted almost 1000 attendees and is something I'm very proud of.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome, I look forward to becoming an active part of your community!

Welcome Phil. I wish I had gotten started as early as you are. I would be on that beach of mine right now.

Look Jill - you were NOT weird as a child, here's a long lost relative!

I'm starting to realize how fortunate I am to find out what I want at such a young age as I've been hearing this more and more lately.

haha I'm glad to hear that I'm not weird either! It's good to be in the company of so many like minded individuals.

Don't forget to enjoy life while you are young, while you can make mistakes, and while you have no responsibilities whatsoever. Other then that, be successful and have fun!

Thanks Smooth that's good advice to keep in mind. And Bobo, not too sure how my mother would feel about that! haha
