As you can tell from my username, my name is Jon (short for Jonathon). I joined the forum years ago but only responded to a few posts without ever introducing myself. I'm going to try and keep this as short as possible because it's partially a rant/venting. Some quick background about me: I have a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Statistics; I taught myself web development, computer programming, and data science; and have been working in related fields. Also, I just moved from Phoenix, AZ to San Tan Valley.
Now for the venting -- I had to quit my job due to commute issues after my last job switched from fully remote to fully back in office. The absolute crazy thing about having to frantically apply for jobs is the competition for pathetically compensated careers is extremely high; arguably higher than the competition for entrepreneurial endeavors. Chasing rising degree requirements, certifications, copious amounts of technology requirements -- and for what? An abysmal salary that doesn't even keep up with inflation. It is absolute madness how hard people are willing to work just for the chance to barely afford bills. Anyway, I'll be back on this treadmill until I can land something to pay the bills and then, finally, continue in my entrepreneurial journey.
If you're currently frustrated while working on your own stuff, just remember -- you could be working equally as hard for a 0% chance at real wealth.
Cheers!
