I have been pondering over this idea for maybe 2 years now.
I would like to setup a website offering a tutorial on how to make beats on different machines and certain styles of hip hop. I've noticed the one main reason why most people never get passed making "their first beat" is because the u/i simply confuses the hell out of them (especially reason and ableton).
My website would offer two different content:
1) 30min-1 hour tutorials demonstrating the different aspects on how to make music. There is more then enough content to go on for years pretty much since there is so many different programs. These videos can be released 1-2x a week.
2) Have a 15 minute showcase of a different producer 3x times a week. we give him a interview on his upbringing and then ask if they have any tips for everyone. At the end of the segment they are free to demonstrate whatever video/performance they want promoting them.
I've released a couple websites before so the actual designing is not a problem but my only issue is how could i generate revenue from this. Would it be a better idea to charge a monthly fee, Set up a justin.tv link , and then mass email a different password whenever i have live classes (obviously they would be able to download lectures) ;or do i just continue on as a blog and try to gain off ad space.
Also, I would love to be the host on the venture but I feel it would be best to allow the right person (eye candy preferably) to do interviews and another person to do the tutorials (as long as he looks like he knows what hes doing he should be ok right xD) so i can concentrate on bringing new content everyweek. Is there something I'm missing?
