Great link. I especially like the "Commit to Failure" line.

Personally, #3 resonates with me: Take risks make mistakes.

I'd rather try and fail, than not try at all. The regret of not trying far exceeds the pain of failure. An example, if I never try writing a book -- the pain is far greater than writing a book and having it be a miserable failure. Again, the journey is really the dream versus the destination. Baking the cake should be the fun ... regardless how tasty it comes out of the oven.

I can relate to #3 today... 5. Writing Things Down

I had a possible new product to add on with the site I am in the process of getting up. I thought of this right before I went to sleep but now I can't remember it. I even thought about getting out of bed and writing it down but did not. Now, I have no clue what it was! :smx4:

Another habit of highly innovative people is that they are always looking for challenges. Not knowing about something is motivating. It's seen as an opportunity to grow and learn--not to give up and go the "more comfortable", well-known route.

Great post!! I love seeing new and different ways to do something. I'm all about #2 - removing self-limiting inhibitions. So often people are their own worst enemies.

Have to politely disagree w/you on that one.

The love of my life (my wife/biz partner) is intimately tied to 5 of the 8 ways they list to "cultivate creativity":

-Find A Creative Environment (our home, and playing ideas off each other)

-Do something fun - (my fave person to do fun things with!)

-Commit to Failure - (we both are stronger b/c we have each other's back)

-Talk to Someone About It - ('nuff said)

-Plan for Roadblocks - (we work on things together, "Plan B" is an integral part of our strategies).

Being in love is a great way of getting great ideas. It doesn't need to be being in love with a human being. Just being in love with life in general. How you do that is up to each one of us. Some people have an easier time being self-motivated than others.
