Is it true?

I would say that's more the "walk the walk" mentality than the "talk the talk" mentality. I don't mind sharing ideas but talk only gets you so far... not nearly as far as the wealthy who get to action.

Really like that list! There are some points that are found in TMF , amongst other places.

Have to love the first commenter. Screams poor planner. What a slowlaner. Making excuses and circumventing hard work and smart decisions. Blaming others for their misfortune. Bet she has a mountain of debt and a Mercedes B Class. Good for you lady.

Definitely just sent this to my girlfriend, I'm slowly trying to show and tell her why I do the things I do. This list for the most part is pretty good, as for the part about speaking my mind though, eh. I don't exactly agree with that, but it really depends on the scenario. If I am having a one-on-one with someone, I am going to speak my mind entirely. In a group of people, depends on whether or not I have been drinking. :)

14. 6% of wealthy watch reality TV vs. 78% for poor.

That made me laugh so hard.

And yes, the comments will make your head hurt. So many people making excuses... Surprised that wasn't on the list.

It's not just that they're making excuses. It's that when they argue they make no coherent sense.

More poor people watch reality TV. More poor people spend more than 1 hour every day watching TV. Yet she makes the excuse: rich people have more time? Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day, it's how you choose to spend them.

The comments were so damn stupid.
" I can go outside and bust up concrete blocks with a sledgehammer sunup to sundown, but I'll NEVER get rich no matter how hard I work."
No shit. You're not creating value or doing much of anything.

Habits make a huge difference in someone's success. I thought the comments from the post were hilarious yet interesting to read the different perspectives of the "slowlaners" and "fastlaners" as far as mentality goes.

LOL...I love it ! Just guessing but I think you speak your mind...that's great.

I do nearly ALL those things..I fit right in....but I'm not wealthy..unless my personality counts then of course.

I've read and heard most of the things on this list for several years. I'm in the middle of poor and wealthy..closer to poor. I truly believe reading TMF was the missing link for me. I have to remember to tell you all how it came about...interesting how life works.

While the overall message is good/true (and obvious), I can't help but wonder where these numbers are coming from.. there aren't any sources to back up the 'data'.

Great summary. Maybe add that the rich:

- Live below their means
- Focus more on career and self-improvement vs. entertainment

What do you guys think are some distinctions between middle class and the super wealthy rather than the poor vs the wealthy? I think some obvious ones are:

Poor- usually spend above their means
Middle Class- usually trade hours for dollars
Rich- usually on the fastlane and own businesses and make money while they sleep (rest from working really hard)

Of the 6% of wealthy people who watch Reality TV, I wonder how many are watching shows they appeared in?

OK. OK .. I admit it. My wife makes me watch "Swamp People" with her. :)

Seriously though, that is good list, and sounds pretty close.

Wow, good list but man the comments made my head hurt ;-). Would say it amazes me that the commenting folks really think like that, but I've encountered it too much and know better.

I like the junk food, bad habits and tv thing. Rich people have control over more than just their income. They have control of their lives. It really shows in this article.

My takeaway: Take control of everything that can shape your life and never give it back. I need to work on holding the cards closer.

These stats are correlation, not causation.

Successful people do things that result in those stats. Performing those actions don't in themselves lead to success.

If you are motivated and driven, you wake up early. Waking up early does not create motivation and drive.

The comments are so ironic, a prime example of why these people don't get ahead. Someone complains about rich people having staff to do cleaning, lawn mowing, etc. Why in the world wouldn't they??

Also the guy who said that he worked over 100 hours and cannot afford to pay for retirement. You are stupid because

a) you are horribly underpaid
b) you clearly have a budgeting problem

I am grateful for these people, they make fastlane possible for others.
