I've been trying to become a successful entrepreneur for several years. I've had small successes and many failures with online businesses. I've never given up trying.

I was searching online 1/17/25 about how to create an online course. Looking at YT videos and getting the upside and downside of this type of business venture. Must have looked at approximately 10 YT videos with various degrees of truthfulness. I managed to find one guy who had the ring of truthfulness as well as information. He was the only one who told the truth about the real problem with online courses—how to market them. My research determined that the competition was too great, among other things. I realized that this was not the business opportunity I was looking for.

But this guy ended up giving me something that was priceless: The Millionaire Fastlane . He recommended a list of books to read, and this book was listed as number one. I purchased the Kindle version (wanted to read TMF ASAP!), and the paperback version. I purchased the Kindle version and located the 10th Anniversary audiobook at an online library.

I read/listened to TMF over 1 ½ days where I learned about his other two books, Unscripted : Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Entrepreneurship; Unscripted : The Great Rat-Race Escape. I purchased all versions of these books, too, and had read/listened to all three books within 4 ½ days. I could not stop.

I knew I had struck gold after reading TMF, and MJ’s next two books expanded on TMF with even more valuable information. It’s what I had been searching for, for so long—an authentic roadmap to wealth creation. I understand that TMF is a process, not a sprint. What was priceless, was finally understanding why and how I’d become trapped in the rat-race.

The blinders came off my eyes due to TMF. I was able to see past all the nonsense that had been poured into my head by well-meaning parents, teachers, and society writ large. I’m truly the poster child for “get an education, get a job, become a consumer, work hard for 5 days, save 10% of your income where you can retire with enough money in 40 years, and you’re free on the weekends, hooray!” It took me several years to become suspicious of this BS and that’s when my journey for the truth about genuine entrepreneurship began. This was a long, fruitless journey. But that’s a story for another time.

Then I got busy. I took my first step (the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step) to the Fastlane financial road trip by bolting on TMF’s F-A-S-T-L-A-N-E-S-U-P-E-R-C-H-A-R-G-E-R, which is an acronym for the Fastlane process. I went through the process of writing down what my vision is of my life in 10, 5, and 1 year. Then I focused on my 1-month vision. I started by opening my eyes to “needs” around me. I started chasing needs instead of chasing money. My mindset shifted to “how can I find a problem, solve it, and make millions of lives better?” Within 2 days I had settled on a need that had been in front of me all along, but I didn’t see it properly until after reading TMF. I researched my chosen online business to make sure it fit squarely within TMF’s 5 commandments (CENTS).

Action steps I took:
  • I joined the Fastlane forum.
  • I found a problem that needed to be solved for millions of people.
  • I researched how I could fill this need.
  • I decided what my entrepreneurial venture would be.
  • I settled on the name for my online business.
  • I secured the domain name (it was available!)
  • I incorporated my business.
  • I secured my EIN number from the IRS.
  • I opened my business bank account.
  • I took a deep look into how I’d been spending my money and realized I’d been wasting money on consumerism, among other things.
  • I cut out the fat and started saving more money I knew I would need to financially support my new entrepreneurial venture.
  • I created my escape number calculations and put them on the board just above my computer.
  • I created a poster where I track every dime I save and put it on the same board.
  • I’ve started creating my website by subscribing to my hosting platform.
  • I’m in the middle of a serious learning curve but happy to be there!
This is what TMF has done for me—given me the confidence to move forward successfully with a process I know will work. This is what I’ve been able to accomplish in the 2 weeks since I read the TMF trilogy. And, yes, I’m still working. But my mindset about it is so much better. The money I’m making from this job is my ticket to FREEDOM. I willingly work now because I know I’m working towards getting out of the rat-race.

While I’m on the expressway trapped in traffic, while I’m standing in line anywhere, I’m listening to TMF. I’ve accomplished my to-do list, after work, on the weekends, and during any free time I have. I take advantage of any opportunity to move forward with the TMF process. I feel liberated, and I don’t wake up anymore feeling dread for the day in front of me. I’m too busy planning my next step in the process!

I’m sharing my journey, so far, with forum members who might benefit and be encouraged by my experience. I joined this forum to give and receive benefit from the members in this forum and I’ve gained so much knowledge from reading posts on the forum.

Thank you, MJ, for your commitment in getting the Fastlane trilogy out there to help FREE people like me.

Great start, and now its time to get to work with the really hard stuff... creating value through value skew, selling it, and scaling it!

Thanks for sharing how you came to the books.

Thank you, MJ for your words of encouragement. I have been focusing my attention on creating value through value skew over the last few days. And, yes, the Fastlane process is really hard work. But what's harder to me is the thought that I would have to live the rest of my life on the slow lane.

What helped me to understand the foundation of value skew was by reading Blue Ocean Strategy. It went right along with what you talked about in your books about not trying to create the next best new thing. Rather, look around you and see what other businesses are doing, find the weak spots, and up the value factor by doing what they're doing differently and better.

I have my plan mapped out (thanks to the straightforward guidance from your books). Admittedly, I'm in the early stages but I will keep going!

Hi @MsP75,

Have a great start into the journey :)
Looking forward to see your evolution/journey!
