Hey everyone,

I'm 14 years old, have a very small budget, and I'm still learning about business, engineering, and product development. I'm not trying to claim I've invented something revolutionary—I mainly want feedback on whether this idea has any potential or if there are major flaws I'm not seeing.

The idea is a suturing training aid, not a device intended to perform medical procedures on real patients.

The concept would be a small clamp-on device that attaches to a training pad or simulated wound. Once attached, it would project laser guide lines or markers showing where stitches should be placed, helping users learn proper stitch spacing, alignment, and technique.

The original inspiration came from thinking about emergency wound-closure devices, but I realized that actually treating wounds involves huge safety and regulatory challenges. Because of that, I shifted the idea toward training and education instead.

Some possible features I imagined:

  • Clamp-on design that stays fixed while training.
  • Laser guides that indicate recommended stitch locations.
  • Adjustable settings for different wound lengths or shapes.
  • Potentially a camera or sensor system in the future that could evaluate stitch spacing and consistency.
  • A focus on affordability compared to more expensive AR or simulation-based training systems.

One thing I'm unsure about is whether existing products already do this. I've found augmented-reality suturing trainers and surgical simulation systems, but I haven't seen a simple, portable device that physically attaches to a training setup and projects guidance directly onto the practice area.

My questions are:

  1. Does something similar already exist?
  2. Is there a real mrarket for a lower-cost suturing training tool?
  3. What would be the biggest technical challenges?
  4. If you were in my position, what would be the cheapest way to test whether people actually want something like this?

I'm fully aware that I'm young, inexperienced, and working with a tiny budget, so I'm mostly trying to learn how experienced entrepreneurs evaluate ideas before spending time building them.

Any feedback is appreciated.
