I recently (ish) started a real estate business again after reading Unscripted . I have a W2 income that pays the bills, had a side hustle for awhile that we used to be loose on our biweekly budget with. I lost the side hustle due to cut backs at that venture. Now the W2 will cover the bills and barely give a little cash to save every other week. We still live comfortably on that.
I started the real estate business in January, we are getting close to wrapping up our first flip property in the next couple of weeks, the net will be more than the side hustle was annually but we will get the flip proceeds after a few months not 12. I for some reason just feel so lost and down on myself lately for some reason though. I believe it is because I went into this deal expecting and looking at numbers that would put us about 10,000$ more than what we will likely get net in the worst case scenario of this sale. Now I know to some 10,000$ isn't much and to others 10,000$ is insane. This is all strictly as a supplement to our income and we will continue to do this and learn and earn and grow.
We have taken away an immense amount of knowledge on this property and business venture already (we aren't new to real estate but new to flipping) and overall worst case scenario we will make a nice chunk of cash after all expenses, fees, taxes etc... really a good portion of my annual salary even.
For some reason I just find myself really down about the entire situation. I do believe it is because a lot of past fears have resurfaced. My wife is having our second child which is fabulous but several years ago I quit my job with no true safety net or solid plan and that just caused a whole mess for another thread. Our oldest daughter was barely a year old when that all transpired so the new baby brings that back up, also the fact of having to tighten up the budget for a while reminds me of scarcity of the past from not knowing where the monthly expenses would be coming from.
Logically speaking there is nothing wrong, I am just finding myself caught in a downward spiral of irrational fear and uncertainty. I do see a therapist and we spoke about this heavily today, she mentioned that it could and definitely is tied to the fact that I don't sense that I have control over the situation when in fact it is just a new experience that I don't have the experience for yet which makes me subconsciously feel out of control with the whole situation.
When you all find yourself in a situation like this, how do you pull yourself out and keep on trucking through it and get to the other side of the valley so to speak?
