It's the only Richard Dawkins content I can watch anymore as everything else just makes me cringe so hard it hurts, like watching Curb Your Enthusiasm in a room with someone scratching a chalkboard lol.

What are your thoughts so far MJ?

I'm enjoying it as much as I can for a Hollywood production. I'm sure 90% of it is hyperbole and exaggeration because that's what Hollywood does. However because of the entrepreneurial angle and his wife who is vegan (for the animals) I'm relating to it. It also comfirmed my biases that no one who "worked" or rented space at WeWork actually worked, lol.

So I go to this taco place and get two types of meat which is essentially a giant meat stick cooking over fire that they shave thin slices off of. When thin it's amazing, as there is not big hunks of fat and it crisps up nice.

Two times now I've ordered KGs to go, and it's just been this gross hack job where the meat is super thick, and therefore just not good.

Wtf is with this place? It's like they think that since someone is not eating it there they don't need to take care with the order and they just slam it out the door.

Needless to say I'll never order any to go ever again

one time I went and toured a property with 10 rent houses for sale. I had no means of buying the property (I was a kid out of college lol) but I pretended like I was a serious buyer. Idk if anybody else here has done something like this but I wanted the experience and to see what this was like. I did end up buying one for real later. I'd probably do the same thing before buying a biz, too, just go look at some "pretending" to get a feel for it. It seems like average people would never have the guts to do this?

makes sense, as a buyer I've paid more too just because I could tell the more expensive option was more likely to do quality work and/or actually complete the work.

If you've never bought something in a negotiation, its probably a good idea. First time I looked at a house, I was already trying to overpay from pressure from the agent.

Yes, I'd say it violates your right to the property you own. And for the academics who twist and contort the constitution to create things that were never there so that they can write laws that were never intended to exist, there is really no basis or power for them to be able to do this.

It doesn't need to be unconstitutional, rather it is not constitutional.

See, there is no power granted by the constitution for them to do this: steal your wealth, before you have even spent any of it.

It's foolish, it's wrong, it's f*cked up. It would totally wreck the country too.

The fact it's even being suggested tells all of us that the current administration is thinking on a kindergarten level about the economy.

Yes, while I dislike the Sixteenth amendment to begin with and it was in no part related to the original Constitution or Bill of Rights, it has no mention of unrealized gains and is very clear that it's only for income.

Taking a tax on unrealized gains is literally just confiscation of your property.

It is foolish beyond belief for at least 2 reasons:
1. They are not creating new tax revenue, they are just stealing it from the future.
2. It will create more red tape and increase expenses/bureaucracy.

Think about real estate property taxes at the local level. They are ad valorem (based on value) and are essentially an ongoing wealth tax on just one asset (your house). Each town needs staff to value properties (assessing), send out tax bills, take tax payments, process appeals, deal with lawsuits, go after delinquents, etc.

The same infrastructure will be needed for an unrealized gains tax. Who will decide on the values, do the accounting, send out tax bills, decide on appeals, and take assets if the taxes are not paid? These people cost money and hiring thousands would make a tight labor market worse (not to mention making government more bloated).

If the taxpayer is responsible for calculating tax owed (as is the case with income tax), who compensates them for the extra time and money spent complying with this law?

ding ding, nobody!

It will just make it that much more difficult for normal people to gain any wealth at all.

So politicians like Biden and Kamala will champion this new tax as if it's a win "for the little guys" when in reality, that's exactly who they are screwing the hardest.

Because "the little guy" is never going to escape the lower class after these new rules pass.

Sure, they might start with "oh, it's only for amounts over 50 million, or 10 million, or 5 million" but it always starts that way, people get used to it, and they lower it.

Same with the federal income tax! It was originally for "the top 1%", but now the top 50% of people pay some federal income tax (plus almost everyone pays FICA, state income tax, etc.).

I'm serious man - politicians don't understand money, business, or economics. It's really true, they have no idea how any of it works.

And the scary part is, the people have given them the power to control all of it.

edit: to add, the answer is not to find people who DO understand it, because those people will just find ways to use it that benefit them. The answer is to set it up where they don't have power over it in the first place... that's how it was intended!!!

I've reported it for impersonating 'someone I know'. Can't report it for impersonating a 'celebrity/ public figure' because your account isn't verified so you don't appear in the results.

Doesn't even let you provide any additional info when you select the "Someone I know" report option, just says "Thank you, your report has been submitted".
