Yeah. For starters, get a better doctor. That's terrible.

Mine has an assistant to handle patient requests like this. You just leave her a message. Sometimes they don't get back to me until the next day, especially if I call after 2 and it isn't an emergency, but at least there's a mechanism.

Today, I started looking into the establishing my HELOC (home equity line of credit). I closed my last one after my divorce, and just hadn't gotten around to reopening it.

I expected a quick 20 minute phone call to start the process Nope. I am surprised how hard it is now. All the big banks here refuse to take an application.

The little credit union that gave me my last one won't lend in AZ now.

Another credit union I did a mortgage with now want $700 to establish one. PLUS the appraisal cost.

To put it in perspective, they didn't stop giving HELOCs when Lehman Bros and Wamu and Merrill Lynch went under.

Clearly the banks are expecting it big time. And Janet Yellen will be in treasury.

Brace. For. Impact.

Pay it back with the funny money!! Haha

I need more debt. What to buy... LOL

Healthcare is a mess, as everyone can probably attest.

What’s frustrating me today is that I have a simple question for my doctor, but I can’t talk to him or ask him anything without making an appointment, waiting to fit into his schedule, and paying $$. It’s a simple yes or no question about prescriptions he made.

There’s got to be a better way to handle this.
Did you try calling the office and asking for the medical assistant?

They can usually get a hold of the doc and get an answer.

The pharmacist may also be able to help depending on the question.

But ya, agree that it's generally overly complex dealing with the healthcare system.

Great clip. That guy is a patriot.

On a side note, the part of the clip containing King Andrew Cuomo:

I cannot F*cking stand that a**hole. He is so far detached from reality; the only explanation is that he shoved it up his a$$ sideways.

Police take an oath to defend the Constitution from all threats, foreign and domestic. So they’re choosing not to enforce Majesty Cuomo’s edicts. Discretion, anyone?

This cock suckin’ mothafucker thinks his edicts are LAW.

And to think this prick is the president of the National Governors Association.... F*ck me.

The doctor is a neurologist. There aren’t many others nearby. No, I’m not going to move to a city away from my business for this one inconvenience :) (just adding that because it always comes up on other forums - people are like “just move”)

Yes they have an assistant but the office isn’t very good. Doctors are people , and they’re far from perfect. Many of them are also business owners.

Wow. A third.

That will be a housing market crash so hard... I wonder how much money the fed will print to keep the banks "in business."

We are setting the stage for the zombie apocalypse... The real zombies are businesses. Companies staving off death with more and more debt. Consumers staving off bankruptcy, eviction, and foreclosure with more and more debt/liabilities.

The "this is just how it works" syndrome is so bad right now. "When the tide goes out, you see who was swimming naked."

I've heard people say that ultra-powerful's goal over the last few months was to further consolidate power by eliminating potential competitors, IE sabotaging smaller businesses through government lockdowns.

Given the hyper-politicization of many aspects of life, the idea of business has started mirroring war would not surprise me.

Sensationalism. No gov will do that. Not because virtue but because of desire to stay in control.
There will be bailouts, no-eviction laws , grants and low interest loans.
Ofc, all of above is another way to rob people but its done while appearing like Santa.

Healthcare is a mess, as everyone can probably attest.

"The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper name.” -Confucious

It isn't healthcare - it is the sickness industry, IE the goal is to make as much money from sick people as possible, whether through selling more services / products or expanding the market by inventing illnesses. When you see it from that lens, "healthcare" is a very, very efficient machine.

If they actually cared about health, they would have shut down the junk food industry rather than small businesses; and they would have forced people to go to the gym rather than stay at home.

Simple as that.
I think they made sugar sodas tax in Mexico to stop obesity
(so the sodas were more expensive so people bought less of it),
with positive results.
It's really that simple.

The only problem is that that would be unpopular decision so no politician in US would
like to make such deal and risk not being reelected.
People vote themselves to graves. How convenient.

I'm kind of scared now, Toronto is back in lockdown mode, masks are mandated now in BC and it's illegal to have friends over at your home.

Very scary times ahead, government has far to much control and power.

Dam, what happened? Good to hear your ok

Time to upgrade to an Urus :)
Going through a green light. Some guy making a left had his view blocked by the car on my side making a left... so he said fck it and accelerated.

Not sure if I'll go for an Urus.. If I get a lambo I want a screaming V10. LOVE the performante Spyder... we'll see.

But with regards to a SUV replacement, I love the redesign on the new G Wagons...

Crazy how your life can be taken away in a split second, I was biking down a road and had a driver cut across two lanes and cut me off to turn into a gas station...

To many bad drivers out on the road.

Do it.

Ugh, Im still "shopping" too after the loss of the S. Man I miss that car.

Saw the new Escalade ESV this evening. That really caught my eye. Very sharp and classy. I have always been a sucker for the limo look. There is just something so "what America should be," about a giant a$$ luxury SUV with room for days.

F*ck yeah.

I get that Euro models typically have higher quality interiors, but hey, it’s hard to trade sides when you’re a GM guy.

I hate that they begged for and took the bailout. I just can’t let go of GM.

Did you test drive the Escalade?

I checked out a 2019 Tahoe last year, and I loved it. I didn’t look at European competitors because there really aren’t any. It is its own beast.

My 2002 Tahoe is still in great shape and just isn’t going to die unless I help it do so. I’ve probably put $400 into it over the last 3 years. It owes me nothing, and I probably owe it lol.

I hope the new GMs are as well designed as the old.

The 2000-2006 models are insanely well built. I have an old 4x4 suburban that I drive the wheels off of. I originally bought it with 120k on it to haul inventory for my old FBA business. It now has a quarter of a million miles and still going strong. Two weeks ago it pulled a 6k pound travel trailer 8 hours through steep hills in eastern Oklahoma and back without an issue. Thought it was dead earlier this year, turns out fuel pump for the second time.

It has been my daily driver since the wreck. Admittedly, that is getting a little old. It is both too valueless and also too useful to me to get rid of it. It will just be the "old truck." We will see if I can get 500k miles out of it.20201114_130813.jpg

I forgot you’re in Canada and when I read the speed limit you posted I assumed MPH and thought “holy shit that’s it??” A crash at that those speeds in MPH is usually much worse.

Glad to hear you’re walking away whole. Is the other driver ok?

I’ve been in a few bad wrecks myself, they definitely remind us of our mortality. Modern cars are amazing, if I grew up in the 60s/70s I’d probably be dead. My first bad wreck was a long time ago in my friend’s ‘99 Taurus. Even that car was leaps and bounds safer than what existed 20 years prior. He cut off a semi and we were rear ended going ~70mph or so.

I rather have a Big Mac with extra sauce and onions

Would you like to super-duper-size that plus a gallon of Diet Coke? Yes, please. :)

Ok, that would be $25 at the next window only card thank you.

I saw a younger family member earlier who put on a significant amount of weight seen we'd last seen each other.

I plan to intervene, but I want this family to get better. I don't want to just run my mouth.

Could anyone who has helped someone lose weight chime in?

He/she might be struggling with depression. Not necessarily so, but it’s a possibility. Given that, I would rule it out before pushing weight loss. It’s a chicken or the egg type deal.

No depression? It’s hard to break the ice regarding weight loss. If someone was to come to me about being overweight, their best effort might be encouraging me to join them for a walk/run or to hit the gym together. Build that relationship, then work on diet once there is a level of trust. Diet is the key.

I’ve gotten fat, fit and back to fat again, back to fit, etc. My weaknesses are overeating and alcohol, for what it’s worth.

I haven’t been in your position, but I think a leadership approach makes sense. If you want to see a result from someone, you need to lead by example and lead into the fight. Just as you would in business or with your kids. Nothing from the pulpit is going to work long term.

He/she does actually, and has done so for years.

Build that relationship, then work on diet once there is a level of trust.

I'll probably attempt to work through another family member with a better relationship with said family member

My weaknesses are overeating and alcohol, for what it’s worth.

Overeating is my issue too, though weightlifting and playing around with what I eat have helped a lot. I'm a lot leaner now.

I always considered alcohol a cornerstone vice in the sense that it caused other vices (overeating, bad sleep, not exercising).
