Hi everyone.

I just discovered this forum this morning and didn't have the time to read "The Millionaire Fastlane " book. But I will soon :)

So I have been working as a naturalist (wildlife specialist) in a zoo for the last twenty years. I was doing public speaking almost all the time with a little bit of writing in between. But in the last three years, I have been slacked at least five times due to major renovation and eventually C0VlD-19. All those job loss are having a toll on my mental health and I was diagnosed with a major depression and an anxiety disorder about three years ago. Today, I feel very well but I still need to take care of me.

My goal now is to create enough passive income so I could become financially independent. I would like to start an online business but don't know yet what kind. I also just started an online course on investing in the stock market. I am also interested in networking with other like-minded people in this forum. Unfortunately, I am not on social media anymore. I discovered that I spend too much time on them and my anxiety is rising to the top every time I use them.

In the last two years, I have been reading "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and also "The Four-Hour Workweek". But as a master procrastinator and anxious guy, I must take action.

Eventually, I would love to write fiction and non fiction books because I really like to write. My native language is french so sorry if I have made some mistakes in my presentation.

Apart from this, I should say that I love spending time in nature, doing outdoor sports, drawing, photography and oil painting.

Have a great day and take care of you during this crazy time :)

Why don't try to work in a sector you already know and try to generate income there? In your case for example something with art or sports?

Thanks.

What are you thinking exactly?

I was thinking that maybe I should create a blog to help people create gardens that are both pretty, low maintenance and that can provide lots of habitat for birds, bees and butterflies. The only thing is that I don't really know if there is a market for this. I know I have a strong expertise in the field but I don't waste my time if there is no money to make with this idea.

I was thinking also about providing a service in the public speaking niche.

And my last idea was about creating a blog to help people lower their anxiety and depression risk but changing a few aspects of their lives. That's what I am trying to do every day. I am not perfect but I live a simpler and healthier life than before my depression.

Great to hear that you are taking it seriously.
1. A blog about gardening could work, you would need to make some bigger research on how profitable it could be. And the competition will be quite big, in my mind. But with Corona and home office a lot of people have more time for gardening.

2. A service in the public speaking niche is really not my field of expertise. I'm just worried that you'll trade your time for money. And with the uncertainty of Corona, it could be harder.

3. Depression and anxiety is on the rise, and Corona didn't help. College students in the US struggle around 36% with depression and 41% have anxiety. College students’ mental health is a growing concern, survey finds
And these numbers are from 2013 could be much higher today. From your story, it seems that you have a lot of experience with anxiety and depression so it could be a really great idea. Here the possibilities are endless. (forum, self-help-app, etc.) I'd really just focus on helping people and not making money in that sector. If you can help people the money will come. I have no idea if a blog is the way to go, but it could surely work. It's difficult to judge without having experience in this kind of topic.

I personally would go with the last idea. Wish you all the best.

Thanks for your help.

For the first idea about gardening for wildlife, the competition is big but my niche is unique. My blog could easily be the number one in that precise niche. I was thinking that maybe I could add affiliate links to some gardening tools, native trees, shrubs and plants ...

Concerning my second idea about public speaking, I think you are right. I think this niche wont have much to offer than trading my time for money. I never thought about it this way.

Finally, my third idea about a blog to help people reduce anxiety and depression, you say the possibilities are endless but I don't know how I could make money from this idea.

Thanks again. I appreciate your help.

The blog with gardening is absolutely the easiest thing to do. And yes it's possible to make a lot of money. But before you go there you have to build a following basis.

I rather like the other idea. There you can build so many different things. For example, you could build an app that helps you with your depression, where you can journal, open up to people, etc. and charge 9.99$/month or so. You could build some type of agency where people with depression, anxiety, etc. get help from professionals and you just match them and give them a platform to talk. (here for example if a college student has some problems in school a former student can answer some questions.
Or you focus on high ticket clients and sell your time for money, at least in the beginning. You could partner up with schools and focus on helping students. In comparison to what those people pay for college or university, it's a small amount you'd ask for. And maybe you're the reason they stay in school instead of dropping out. I don't see a problem on how to earn money, if you focus on helping people it will come.

Thanks again for your hep.

In fact, I know nothing about programming and I don't want to create an app. I am searching for something I could do without spending months or a lot of money before seeing the results.

I think the best thing I should do is to start a business with the expertise I have today and learn along the way. I also think I will drop the decluttering and minimalism aspects and focus mostly on how to reduce stress and anxiety in your life and become more productive.

You're right in that case a blog is maybe the best thing to do.
Wish you all the best and keep us updated.
