Hi everyone, I'm a 23 year old Canadian black guy. Here's my life-story if you're interested lol.

My parents immigrated here before I was born and have always preached the script very strongly. As a matter of fact my father is the most scripted, close-minded, risk-averse, safety-driven person I've ever met to this day. He's very conscientious, very smart and very hard-working. Growing up, mistakes were costly, even with things like dropping a fork on the floor by accident.

As for myself I've always been extremely disagreeable and very open-minded, and have fought against his ways my entire life. I've always hated being told what to do and would always fight back. I couldn't fight back in real life, but I would fight back in my head, by believing what I chose to believe.

Unfortunately I developed a huge fear of failure, which led me to procrastinating all the time and finding excuses for a lot of things. My whole life I've never been able to study, and I dropped out of college recently.

I've been lying to people my entire life, telling them I loved school, that I couldn't wait to start working for a big company. I've never met anyone in real life who thought differently. For most of my life I didn't have an identity and felt "different" from most people.

I read Unscripted 2 months ago, and I swear I could've written that book myself. I already held something like 95% of the beliefs outlined in the book, but seeing someone else share them was truly life-changing. Suddenly, I had an identity.

These last 2 months I've been preparing myself. I've been focusing on becoming disciplined and have pretty much stopped caring what my friends think. They think I'm wasting my life away by waking up at 5am lmao. To be honest I'd love to have friends that are Unscripted . And I want friends I don't have to lie to. I expect to be here for many years :)

Anyway, I'm aware that this can all be considered action-faking but the real action is coming soon, you'll see. I'm at the idea stage right now but I'll settle on something shortly. One last thing, I'll be using psychedelics as a tool throughout my journey, so let me know if you're doing it too!

Hi @Kayazuko, thanks for sharing!

While I agree parents may have some obsolete ideas, yet I think you could still pick up some fundamental principles from them like discipline and work ethics from them.

After all, they are still your elders.

Good parents will always want their children to be safe and happy.
Of course though, they'll try to teach and advise in the ways they already know.

Your job is to assure your parents you can find a new UNSCRIPTED way of living that not only make you happier and healthier, but also makes THEM happier and healthier.

So, more than just rejecting your dad's advice, I think it's better to 'complete' it with your newfound learnings and experiences.

Well, it's not a hard and fast rule to wake up at 5AM- unless you really want to get more things done, or you are dealing with clients of different time zones.

I myself wake up around 8-9AM-ish, and get enough done.

You can find UNSCRIPTED -like friends outside in church groups, Meetup.com groups (as long you can filter them out through the first sessions) and even in charity organizations.

One last thing, I'll be using psychedelics as a tool throughout my journey, so let me know if you're doing it too!
I've heard writers have used it to great effect, but I've found it easier to upkeep better writing by keeping a good diet, decent sleeping hours, plus daily reading of good emails or articles.

I agree with everything you said. I will say though that the only way to convince them that an Unscripted life will make them happier will be to write them a check haha.

Also I'll admit that it was hard for me to separate the good advice from the bad. When someone says "the only way you'll be worthy is to do as I say", you're tempted to do the exact opposite, even when what they say might be true.

As for the 5am thing, I realize it's not a requirement for success. In my case, it helps define my identity as someone who takes life seriously.

Thanks for your reply!
