Hello,

This is concept that I have been thinking a long ago. A friend of mine with big breast told me she wasted like 75$ (60€) in a bikini. Not only that, but she told me that normally underwear, lingerie, bikinis for big breast are appart from really expensive, not really stylish. As she explained: " They look like grandmother bras".

So, I made several surveys (friends of mine too, I think that is a mistake to get truthful data), and they showed me the same result.

The question is, I only made 4 surveys, and I'm not really sure what kind of business to make... Maybe it's a good idea to find good providers to work with and create my own brand to serve this niche.

I really appreciate your thoughts.

Michelle Mone spotted in the mid nineties that bras were not really designed for women with larger busts like her.

So she started Ultimo Bras and made £50 million.

I think we're going to need a closer look at your data source before we can help.
Hahaha You are right, but basically women with large busts find really hard to find beatifull bras... that is what shows the 4 surveys

Supposing my hypothesis is correct, how would you think is better to explode this niche...

Haha. I'm having too much fun with this one, but I honesty wouldn't know where to start with this one.

What would the angle be? Like more fashionable swimwear that also offers back support and doesn't cost a fortune?

I'm not sure what you were asking in your survey, but I think you may be oversimplifying the issue. In the U.S., at least, there is a very wide range of options (though usually have to be purchased online versus being able to walk into a store) with widely varied styles and pricing.

There are whole lingerie lines devoted to this demographic. I don't know the full range of pricing, but just a couple of months ago Good Housekeeping did a round-up of the best bras for large-breasted women and the least expensive was somewhere around $7.

The issue is that with flimsy materials, cheap elastic, poor quality fabric and/or poor design, these garments don't, shall we say, get the job done for larger women. It's not hard to find a bra with larger cup sizes or one that's nice looking...it's hard to find nice-looking bras with larger cup sizes that WORK.

Thanks for the feedback,

For example in Spain is not such a wide range of options... But you are right in U.S. there is so much more offer. (not only in this niche but I think in many others).

Run with it.

Create a landing page, run a small an ads campaign (include pinterest) and see from there.

Edit: I asked 4 of my friends. And all of them agreed that finding a good one is a bitch.

Checked em out. $125 for one. Wow.

One reason I'm glad I'm not a woman. I don't need attention that badly to spring for that price. In fact, neither does my wife. She gets more than enough compliments from me and has no desire to be ogled by some pigs in public. I guess not all women feel that way - too bad, so sad.

Seems like you aren't really getting the concept. Sure, they're showing off the visuals as a marketing tactic, but that's definitely not the reason most women I know would buy something like this.

Just a few of the reasons include being able to wear a wide variety of clothes (not necessarily low cut) without worrying about lines, straps showing, etc., etc., etc.; and end to the never-ending quest for a bra that fits really well (read somewhere once that most women have 7-10 bras at any given time, but only one or two that are really comfortable and that they tend to wear over and over again); it's never in the laundry; one $125 purchase replaces 7-10 $20-40 purchases...this could go on indefinitely. Bras are the bane of our existence. If this thing is actually comfortable and reusable long-term, I am sure it's well worth its price. Too bizarre for me and I'm too old to change my spots, but there are a dozen good reasons I can see women flocking to this that have nothing to do with vanity or attracting attention.

Good thing you're not in that industry...your complete lack of understanding of the issues and quick jump to disdainful conclusions would not provide a good basis for marketing.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Having paid for an overdone boob job for my ex-wife, I know how much attention CAN mean to some women. About $5,000 worth in my situation, about 20 years ago. That's a lot of money to turn heads, but I guess it's worth it to some women. For her, it was an issue of major importance. So yes, I'm somewhat of an expert on this subject - at least as much as a man can be.

Here's a wake-up call for the ladies. Those "look-at-me-NOW" clothes and attention-grabbing antics some women employ actually turn some men off. I mean REALLY turn off. Some men don't like the "slutty" factor - if you want to coin a term for it. That's a fact - no need to get offended. Some men find women that do NOTHING to show off but let their natural beauty shine through, are FAR MORE attractive to certain men. Been there - done that. Expert. Can we move on now?

My current wife has NO desire to draw attention in public, even though she gets a lot of it anyway. Even on the beach, she wears a sheer poncho cover-up thing - whatever they call those things. She is there to have a good time - not to provide entertainment. And quality men don't NEED entertainment of that type. In fact, I find it insulting when a woman thinks she can turn my head based on the sashay in her walk or the plunging neckline of her too sexy for prime-time outfit. I'm not a dog that someone can grab my attention by waving a pork chop under my nose.

If you take offense to any of that, then I'm sorry. Trying to give you a perspective that to some people there is much more to going out than being a center of attention.

With that said - give me a break. My wife, who is amply endowed, has NO trouble finding comfortable bras - or any other kind of clothing. In fact, I implore her to dress for comfort when we go out. Usually, this involves shoes. Her favorite shoes are not the most comfortable ones she owns. Sacrifices.

We all send out signals - men and women alike. Here are the signals I want my wife to send out; classy - modest - confident - dignified. And I speak for a LOT of men that feel the same way. When we go out, I am proud of my wife in many ways. One of those ways that I"m not proud of her is I don't treat her like a sports car to be admired and lusted after. But that's just me - and every man I know on a personal level. My ex - that's a whole different story - unfortunately. I've lived both lives - with an attention-craving diva, and with a confident and naturally beautiful woman that is VERY comfortable with who she is (and so am I) even though she's far from being physically perfect (and so am I).

I'll let a true expert say it better than I can;

There was another member here, Greg_R, who used to go into this area (but I think he stopped that and went on to another project) . The thread is on the INSIDERS.

Also, people need to start realizing that artificially big is not good. Natural is best.

It does sound like you've built up a lot of contempt for a certain type of woman that you're projecting around at random.

I'm not "offended" (that seems to be the go-to for people who don't like to be disagreed with). I'm a no-make-up, work in PJs much of the day, favor big baggy dresses when I go out kind of gal who hasn't had the slightest interest in turning anyone's head for a couple of decades. I just don't really think that your in-depth discussions with your current wife about the comfort level of her bras compares with a lifetime of hearing other women complain about bras, duck out of sight to tug at them in public, talk about the difficulty they're having finding one to wear with a certain dress, asking for recommendations, etc. in terms of understanding women's experience with this particular garment. Or that jumping into a discussion of a business concept to talk about how sad some hypothetical women's choices are is productive.

I haven't had this much fun discussing bras since I was 12. And on a business forum, of all places. I can't wait to tell my associates - guess what a hot topic is in the business world boys - go ahead - guess!

So, with business aside for a moment - because for the sake of argument, let's assume bras are an important topic, and how dare any man think he has experience to know anything about them...

1) Yes, you are offended. I pre-stated that I'm sorry for that so we wouldn't have to discuss it later. Sorry - again.

2) I know more about lingerie than many women do - it's been a hobby of mine for decades. I know, from vast experience, that It is possible to find a well-fitting and comfortable bra. Try Victoria's Secret for starters. In addition to being sexy, they do have excellent quality products. That, by the way, is first-hand information from several women that I know. I am a good customer of theirs, and I have never had a complaint about anything I've bought there - and I do buy for function, as well as for fun. They do an excellent job in both categories.

3) I have no contempt for trashy women. Pity, maybe. But good move on a power play to take control of the discussion. Not all women that dress trashy are trashy - yeah, we get it. Don't agree - but we get it. Expert, in fact.

4) Like I said earlier - we all send signals. I'm getting yours loud and clear. Sorry for your perception that I am intruding in an area that I don't belong. My ex did not understand that a big part of her job as my wife was to understand me (which she didn't care about) and my job - equally - was to put forth the effort to understand her. When that happens as it should - there should be no offense taken or condescending attitude displayed. I know that's asking a lot - been there, done that. Everyone has preferences - learn to accept that not everyone will think as you do. And that's the way it should be. I do happen to be an expert on bras. Cut my teeth on the Sears catalog starting at age 10.

5) As I stated, my current wife has NO issues with clothing. And, of much more importance, she has NO need for attention from others when we are in public. I consider those to be qualities that she has.

But don't take my word for it - and don't get offended. Just read this;

girls want attention.JPG

Here's something I just found on Pinterest that may be helpful to make my point. Do keep in mind that I speak for a very large number of men on this topic. Although they are not the most vocal group of men out there; make no mistake - they are there. Ask around - you may be surprised.

dressing immodestly.JPG

Now, what were we discussing again? Oh yeah: bras. If you really want to be an expert, you have to use the terms leather, diamond-studded, and lace. I'm twenty-three levels beyond mere comfort.

This was fun. Now, back to the real world (work).

Much to learn, grasshopper. :smile2:

There was something I found the other day with a similar vibe -

I tried adding Samantha on Linkedin because they live near to me, but no response. I don't know how much they made (they're quoting projections), but it's proven popular & they're looking at US expansion.
